Hi all. Like the title says.. I used to like the TV show Black Sheep and I liked the Corsair cause of that show. I've been thinking about building one but I don't know much about aircraft. My question is.. which variant of the Corsair did Pappy Boyngton and his men fly? Hope you can help me out. Thanks

Hi Hisham,
I found a colour profile that states Boyington was flying F4U-1A whilst leading VMF-214 (The Black Sheep).

Hi Hisham
Just a side note on the Corsair.. since you really like the Black Sheep Squadron show.
There is an old 1/32nd kit of the Corsair which is something you would probably have to find on ebay or a vintage model store or something like that. But the kit is marketed from that show. The box has pictures from the show and I would think would be the correct version. I believe there are a few modelers here on armorama that have done that kit. You might search around in the gallerys and you might find some good pics of it. If I happen across any info about it I'll post it for you.

Hisham,
Tamiya makes an 1/48 F4U-1A with markings for one of Greg Boyington's Corsairs.
here is a link where you can see the kit parts and decals:
