The roden Mohawk in progress

The wings are not glued on yet.

One of the wing tip comes short-molded, so I have to repair it with tons of putties, the right wing is the one came short molded

Great work on the cockpit Dave, impresive detailed painting. Shame about the extra work needed to correct the wing.

Hi Dave

Looking good!

Apart from the wingtips, how has the overall fit been? - you've gone way beyond what I could cover in my in-box review.

All the best

Hi guys, thanks for the feed back.

The Mohawk although has its fault and pitfalls, is one of the best airplane kit I had done OOB. The details are simply amazing, Nothing is overlooked, the cockpit is amazing, and is on par with many resin ones I had done.

All things said, it's not an easy kit, the overall fit although is very good, but due to the lack of many locating pins/slots, a lot of dry fit is needed.

I enjoy the building of this kit a lot.

The kit also has parts that is already molded for modern Mohawk circa. late 70s to early 90s, with different instrument panels and such. So maybe we can expect a later Mohawk very soon perferable with an SLR

Cheers.

Very nice job Dave!

I'll probably get one of those Mohawks when they issue one with a SLR.

Keep up the good work!

Is it me or is Roden issuing neat kits at very reasonable prices?

Your cockpit work is outstanding. Is the bad wingtip just bad luck or is it a problem in the model?

one more pic. The Mohawk kit is giving me more troubles now, with bad injected parts, but well....still enjoyable.

Could you elaborate on that please? I find it interesting that with all of the bad molding there is on this model, you still seem to love this kit. I'm interested why? I can see :sticking the course", but "sticking the course and liking it" is sort of unusual. I admire it.

Great work Dave !!!
I'm amazed by the detail in the cockpit !
I heard somewhere that Roden should be releasing Mig-23s someday... if they come with such detail, it should be more than exiting !

Hello Jeff,

For instance, one side of the airbrake come without the 2 hinges that attached to fuselage, so I have to fill the gap with putty again.

There is some place that there should be a locating hole to put in the blad antenna, but there aint.

Nevertheless, the details are still awesome, check out this landing gear pic, it consists of more than 12 parts, even Tamiya/Hasegawa is not that good.

I believe being able to correct problem from a kit is what a modeler do, hence, I really enjoy the kit.

Besides it's a subject I been waited for years.

I would check on the underside of where you suspect the locating pins are supposed to be. The hole may not have gone through completely.

I remember doing a P-40N. For those of you who don't know about the P-40N version, the canopy is rectangular and not with the caved canopy that was molded on, and the canopy glass was molded for the rectangular canopy. I must have looked over it a hundred times, missing the guidelines that you use to cut the caved in part off.

So (after that tangent) I would look for "cut hole" on the underside. Now that may not be possible as you seem to have the fuselage glued together. But in the future...

Jeff, I did. LOL.... and nope still not there. since I usually build without following exact step of the instructions, so I usually get a full pic of the kit, and know before hand if some of the thing is missing.

but don't let my comment deter you, this is one awesome kit, just need a bit work.
