Here is a pic of my 1:72 scale Mustang wearing the markings of the 315th Squadron. Polish pilots in RAF service.
I was born and raised in Poland so this is close to my heart. I was enspired to build the model with these markings in particular as they are the last known markings of Eugeniusz Herbaczewski-I read a story about how he flew back to find a shot down friend, packed him in the plane-sat on his lap and flew this plane back over the channel to England. (I hope I got it right).
Let me know what you think-personally I think I over did the weathering and excuse the clumsiness of the stripes. I did everything using a paint brush and masking tape an the kit was build a few years ago.
If you have any comments or tips on improving please let me know-will come in helpfull with the next one I want to put together.

I see you figured out how to post pics. Did you follow my instructions?
Very nice Stang you got there. I don't know why but I just love aircraft dressed in invasion stripes.

Nice lloking Mustang. I did this in 1/48 for the Operation Overlord campaign. This unit flew from an advanced landing ground at Coolham, just down the road from wherer I live.

Maybe she is a little "over weathered" for 1/72, but still a very nice Mustang. Don't worry to much about the invasion stripes, they were hastily applied anyway.
My Uncle was Polish and in the RAF during the war.

a little is an understatement... you are right-it is overweathered...
I am planning to finish up a dio with this one-I want to use the Airfix 1:72 ambulance and wounded pilot-have the pilot standing by as the wounded comrade he brought with him is carried into the ambulance... will see how it turns out.
Thank you for the compliment though.
In respect to the Polish in the RAF service-I am fascinated with the fact that so many nationalities managed to come together to fight one enemy and serve in one countrys air force... I also have a dio of the Czech Night Hawk (Hurricane wearing the night cammo and the grim ripper on the side).... the pilots stands prepped against the prop... but I feel it is heavily overweathered as well-same scale-I seem to overdue it in the 1:72 scale planes.
