Join the club. There are a bunch of us waiting for the re-issue re-release of the Killer Egg. Great Models and others are still saying 3-4 weeks. They have been saying that for a couple of months now. It has been a hot topic over at Fine Scale Modeler forums too. Check here. FSM
Some are in the early planning stages of an armed raid on one of the distributers. Maybe you would like to join in too.
We all wait with baited breath and raising hopes for its second coming!! Where for art thou, Killer Egg!!
Sorry, I got a little carried away there.

Would we be able to use the MD500 Defender and convert it into a little bird. Cobra Co. makes a resin cockpit. how about some scratch built items also. What do you think.

Anything is possible!
BUT, i would (im sure everyone else also) would much rather get my hands on DML's kit.
this is for a diorama of the events that took place in mogadishu, somalia, on october the 3rd 1993 ( aka Black Hawk Down)
cheers

Murphy's Law of Modelling states that when you finish a scratchbuild, the model will be released. If you wait for the model to be released, you'll wait til infinity. Either way, have fun!

That option will also work, kinda, the Cobra Company set comes with most of the parts needed. That option has also been bounced around on the FSM forum too. However, the MD-500 has the wrong canopy, too pointy. You have to get the MD-530G Tow kit, which is almost as hard to find as the AH-6J.
Hopefully Dragon is watching the FSM forum and here so they see the demand is there. We shall see.

Gino, i might be mistaken, but i had both kit in my hand (md500 & md530) and the md530 had the pointed nose canopy? Let me know if it's the md530 kit i need to use to convert over to the little, and i'll get to my LHS to buy that kit. Thanks

Gino, I'm swinging by that one hobby shop that relocated today. I'll be sure to look again. My regular hobby shop had the IDF MD500, I think it was called the TOW Defender for $18. I haven't looked for it in a bit so I do not know if they still have it. I recall it had the rounded and not pointy nose. I think the Sheriff one had a pointy nose as well.
There might be renewed interest in the kit since the AH-6 is the front-runner as the Comanche's replacement.

The IDF Defender TOW is the one with the right nose, rounded. The pointy nose is incorrect. With the rounded nose MD500 and the Cobra Company set, and a little scratchbuilding, you can make a MH-6 with Mission Enhancement Package (outboard troop planks for operators), not the AH-6J gunship version.
MH-6
For the AH-6J, you need much more scratchbuilding and a couple of M139 miniguns and 2.75" rocket tubes.
AH-6J
I am still holding out for the Dragon AH-6J, I am not in a super hurry to build it, I have quite a few models on the to-do list ahead of it.

I just got back from that shop and they do not have any of the DML 1/35 scale helicopters. I've still got an original issue AH-6, but I'm not parting with it.

Man guys,
Everytime I read one of these 'Killer Egg' threads, I wonder again how in the heck I was able to grab up that one I got for 8 bucks!......or more accurately, why the guy sold it for that!

Hey Dave, no need to give your 'generosity' a hernia. I've already started it anyway, so it's commited.
I guess it's just a case of right time/right place. It rarely happens to me so I have to 'bask' when I can.....
Unlike Sabot, who seems to always be in the 'right place'....right Rob?
