Hi,
Their new kits are very good
BUT watch out for some of their re-releases as some of these are old reboxed kits from other manufactures.
eg. 1/72 JU-290 -
1/72 He-177 -
1/72 Ju-87G -
Sorry connot comment on other larger scales as I dont build these.
Ciao

hi, does anybody have some comments on revell kits
You must be more specific. First of all there are two Revell companies: Revell/Monogram and Revell of Germany. They have a lot of common releases, but not all. In Europe Revell/Monogram kits are rarely available, so I think you mean Revell of Germany.
They have all kind of kits - from fantastic ones to very poor ones. They have some releases of their own, which are very good, particularly recent ones, but they also rebox a lot of other manufacturer's kits. They rebox some Hasegawa models and these are usually very good. But they also rebox Italeri kits and these are often not that great. Some reboxes are old Revell or Monogram releases and while they are still quite good kits, they feature raised panel lines and level of detail typical for 70s and 80s models. I think they also reboxed some Matchbox models.
So you need to ask for a specific model to get more valuable information.

Pawel is correct, but if you pick up the right kits you can get a real bargin. For example, their Me 262 A-1a is a reboxing of the Dragon kit, with parts for all the different kits they produced, except the 50mm cannon armed version.

Hi Quinten
Ditto Pawel's reply.
Revell market so much stuff, from so many eras and so many sources... what kits, in particular, are you interested in?
All the best

revell kits.. hmm. the new aircraft kits.. i bought 1/72 p51 & p47 the quality is quite good. however watch out for the re-boxed kits, eg: few months ago i bought a lancaster dambuster 1/72 and it really sucks...! check the reviews first, if any, before you buy.

HI
Although most of the Luft 46 stuff from Revell has been discontinued, they were usually pretty good for the money. Generally great value.
But many were re-boxed Dragons but not all.
Their Ar AE555 was especially good.
And the Me P1099's both light and heavy also.
Great pity they are letting the Luft 46 side of things die.
Cheers

I do all 1/48. I like the monogram kits..but I find the Revell of germany 1/48 kits, the instruction sheet and decals are marginal.

1:48 Revell Henschel Hs 129 B-2
1:48 Revell B-26 Marauder
1:48 Revell B24 D Liberator
....
for example

I belive the Henschel is an all new tooling (probably a re-box of the Hasegawa example). The B-24 & B-26 are older, but still pretty decent, ex-Monogram kits (the only other 1/48 B-26 I can recall being an ESCI kit).

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a list somewhere or a site on the internet which lists the different Revell kits and whether or not they are original or reboxed kits. It would be a large list but it would be good info to have.

ive started with revell and monogram kits, there realy good, and there not very expensive at walmart, good details when it comes to the wings and fuslage... but the cockpit lacks a little, not very nice and kinda sketchy... and well not many pieces.. so there fun if you love ur AB. and overall results are good
Frank
nother fun thing: there the planes are like under 15 buck at walmart... so its the perfect model when ur a beginner at AB and weathering and all that... wouldnt want to screw a dragon kit with PE would you?
happy modeling

Up until a month ago, Revell of Germany was the only available brand in my neck of the woods...
But what's curious, it' actually marginally cheaper than in, for example, France or Germany
I think they've gotten rid of most of their real dogs, and the remainder available is good quality. For example in 1/72 I find their F-16C Block 50/52 second to none.
I can wholeheartedly recommend most (if not even all) of their new releases.
Cheers,
tvrtko

I have just returned to the hobby after a 30 year lay off.
So I bought a few cheap revell kits on ebay recently all 1/72;
1978 BF109E
1978 Hawker Hurricane Mk1
1983 FW190A
The pilots on them all are just blobs of plastic
The Hurricane does not even have an antenna mast
I presume later model kits (from all manufacturers) are of better quality? Can someone please advise me on this.
I am not too disappointed as I am using them to develop my skills using new tools, materials and techniques - like, filler ! , microsol, airbrushing, acrylic paints, using johnson klear as a varnish etc.
I have just joined the Battle of Britain Campaign so you can all have a laugh at my efforts !

i started building model with revel-monogram 1/48 modern jet. I build more than 10 revell-monogram kits. This is the cheapest brand available an that particular time. As far as fitting is concern, i found that these kits were best and for a beginner, they were really easy to build. Until about 3 years ago when Revell Germany hit the market and some company were given the sole distributor title, then they took back all the revell-monogram kits and sell them beside revell AG. This resulting in 30-50% increase of the price i dint know why..even the old stock of revell-monogram went up. So far i'd build 2 kits of the new revell germany and i can say they're also good but still expensive here!
