I have jsut finished building my ME-109 and am looking for a really interesting color scheme to paint it. Does anyone have any pictures or links of some unusual 109 color schemes?

Hi guys,
I don't know if I would classify these as unusual but I definitely think these are interesting schemes for the 109. A couple of these were on the 109F's a few on the G and one on the K variant of the 109.
The details of each plane is not very readable but if you want to know any of them just ask . I'll be glad to tell you what each one of them is.
Hope this helps,
Wayne

Look here :
Scott van Aken's Luftwaffe code page
Using profiles taken from decal sheets, he explains what the codes on German aircrafts mean. But you can see a lot of neat camo ideas!
After you are done, go to the decal section of Modeling Madness to find the sheet!

The site is great, thanks Ollie. By the way, did you get those pictures from a book or website Wayne?

I guess I did forget to mention that didn't I...I got the pics out of a book.
It is "Messerschmitt Bf109" text by Robert Grinsell and illustrations by Rikyu Watanabe. It is an excellent book if you can find a copy of it. It is a history of the 109 with excellent illustrations of the cockpit and some great pics of different paint schemes used throughout its carreer. Also a really neat skeletal illustration of the plane showing what everything is inside.
I have two other books in the same series on the Zero and the Stuka. Very cool books. They don't all have the same authors but I think they were all put out by Crown Publishers.

JG53 Geschwaderkommodore Obst. Gunther Frieherr von Maltzahn flew this Bf 109G-2 trop from Comiso in Italy in Spring 1943. The plane is in a RLM78/79/80 paint scheme.
