As I lack serious ability in aircraft model building I am looking into getting a few ‘test subjects’, but would like them to at least be worth building. Heller’s 1/72 kits almost put me off aircraft for good.

I need some help regarding the following Academy 1/48 Scale aircraft kits:

Spitfire Mk XIVc
Spitfire Mk XIVe

F15E Strike Eagle
ME Bf 109G-6

I know some of Academy’s 1/48 kits are good e.g. their F86 Sabre, what about the four above?

Also what Academy kits are good?
Which other kits (in my ability range) would you suggest me looking at?

As far as the 2 Spitfire kits that you mention are concerned, they are both quite nice models. Not totally accurate but go together well and look good once finished. I have them both, here's the XIVe:


I don't have pics of the XIVc in my gallery, but if you would like I can get some and give you a look. Both of them are done in the kit markings.
I'm afraid I can't help with the F15 or Bf 109.
