hi fellas, i haven't been here for a while. Hurricane Ivan made a direct hit in my area, and being a residential builder, i've been busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest lately, had to put the hobby on hold for a few. things have slowed a bit, so i finished this easy tamiya build the other night and thought i'd share it with you guys.
this is Tamiya's 1/48 P-51D as Capt. Botchkay's bird. she has a few Superscale decals and a True Details resin seat. hope you like it. later.

She's a beaut!
Hard to tell from the photos, but is there an antenna?
And, I have to echo Cody, please describe how you accomplished the bare metal.
While you're at it, how's about a shot of the rest of the cockpit and control panel, and underside?
Keep up the good work, both on the kits and in getting your fellow Alabamans (Alabamites? Alabamians?) back in their homes.

thanks for the positive comment guys!! all the more motivation to keep building. hobby forums are great because i live in a rural area and there is not many folks around here that are in the hobby to share with.
the finish is done with alclad aluminum, with dark aluminum and chrome panel accents. also, i did a dark gray wash to the panel lines, and 2 coats of thinned future. again, thanks for the positive feedback. later.

Hi Saltydog
What a beautiful job!
The natural metal finish looks superb and that's lovely detail on the seat and harness.
All the best

Click on Gallery, in the menus at top left. You will see a list of galleries, click on Aircraft and you will get 3 more options, click on "Completed Models". Your P-51 would go in the WWII gallery
Or CLICK HERE
I usually take loads of pics the ones you have here are fine, but you will see how many pics I have in there of some of my stuff. Modellers like to see models, the more the merrier, but the shots you have here more than show off your excellent model. One advantage of having pics in the permanent gallery is that you can delete them from your personal one, and save space.
I've been having discussions about promoting the publishing of more pics, stay tuned

Thanks.
I see that your pics are not hosted in your gallery, I was going to capture them and put them in the permanent slot? Do you have your own web site? If you do and these pics are posted there (and why wouldn't they be :-) ) could we possibly have some different ones, but just as good For Armorama? Up to you of course, we would be more than happy with the same pics. If you were to upload them to you gallery here I should be able to move them, or at least copy them and post in the permanent section.

i'll certainly see what i can come up with Mal. whats the difference in the permanent Gallery and my gallery? where is the permanent gallery? same place? do pics get deleted from my gallery after a while? sorry for all the questions, i'm new here.

When you join Armorama you automatically receive 3mb of picture hosting space. To get to you gallery, click on the gallery link in the menus at top left, then click on "my gallery" top left under the banner. Alternatively you can click on "my photos" at the bottom of each and every one of you posts as can anyone else. Then set up your gallery, not to difficult, even I managed it :-) but if you do hit a snag just give me a shout. Although 3mb of space is quite generous you can soon use it up. For a small fee, towards the running of Armorama, you can join the A-Gaurd and get 25-75mb of space. Click on the A-Guard symbol under Merlins callsign.
The difference between a personal gallery and the permanent one is that pictures won’t get deleted and are hosted by the site. That means they won’t count against your 3mb of space. You can of course delete pictures from your personal space at any time so if they were on view in the main gallery the link would get broken and there would be complete chaos.
The permanent gallery is where you went browsing, I call it that, it probably has a different name but hey, it's where pics are stored permanently
No pics won't be deleted from you gallery, unles of course they are offensive, like..............say..........armour LOL ( just joshing, if any treadheads are reading this )
Basically Modellers like to see pictures of there favourite subjects and of well built models. As your P-51 fits the bill admirably, then it would be great to have pics here
