G'day Folk's,

The progress of the OOP AMT 48 scale A20g Boston/Havoc kit, I transformed into this Pacific Theatre bird, with the help of the old AeroMaster decal sheet. The pilot seat is a resin creation of my own doing, along with the raft, that will be fitted later.

The canopy roof hatch is NOT glued on as yet, [masking tape is holding it open], the holes have been drilled out of the clear roof part before painting, the twin trailing antenia, is made from 40thou invisithread, the rudder post had been drilled and the thread inserted and glued with CA glue. The radio antenia mask was also drilled out and the thread inserted and tentioned before aplying CA glue, them trimed and the mast touched up with paint.

Hi Rob

Nice job! I've always loved AMT's A-20s.

It's always great to see your work and this time it really brings back memories, because I used to make resin correction parts for it myself... wheels, control surfaces and, of course, the infamous missing life raft.

The good news is that Italeri have re-released the A20G - so we can get this great kit again.

All the best

Nice Havoc, like the markings. What did you do about the horrible tread pattern on the tyres? I filed them off on mine

Nice Havoc mate!

Holdfast, I bought the True Detail ones for mine, so I'll compare when I'll get it under way.

Hi Mal,

If I'd known you in those days, I'd have sent you a set of my resin replacements. I don't know what the kit originals were based on... very weird looking things.

All the best

Well, they are the rare mud tyres used on CMB planes.

When it gets muddy, they still have traction to move around!

Folk's,

Thanks for the kind words on this progress build, no I didn't change the tyres on this model and yes the Italeri A20g kit is moulded in the usual Light Grey plastic and it has a decal option in the kit for an RAAF 22 Squadron bird deplicting DU-C.

Hopfully the A20 B/C and J will come out in due course

Yes a great pity mate, the kit tyres are, as OllieC-FWOL says, like some kind of ultra off road type :-)
Does this mean I can get a set from Martin (HA) SORRY

Ouch! You swine...! :-)

It probably does... he's seems to have made copies of most of my old Blueprint Models... just for safety's sake - of course...

All the best
