I'm looking into building my favorite German aircraft of all time and I'm not sure where or what to go with for starters.

I want a good kit, not too small that will look great when finished, I'm just not too sure with what brand I should go for or even what variant of the 109 since I really don't know much of the differences between the Bf109 G's, E's, etc. I'd love any help from those who may know more about this than me.

Also on another note, I'm rather new and returning to this hobby and only now starting to take it more seriously than I did before by starting to take my time on models with gluing and painting.

Thanks!

I think a 1:32 kit would be good. If you want something big go for 1:24.

cheers

Hi Joshua,
If you are just getting back to the hobby may I suggest the Tamiya 1/48 Messerschmitt Bf 109 E. It's a very good and easy kit. Plus we have had a couple built fairly recently and I'm sure the builders will be more than happy to help you through building it. The Bf 109 E-4 at the top of the page is a Hasegawa kit, the Tamiya kit is more recent and, although the Hasegawa kit is nice the Tamiya kit is better.
Philip's suggestion of a 1/32 Bf 109 is also a good choice, Hasegawa has brought out some stunning models in this scale recently. However if you go this route you will soon run out of space
Rest assured, whichever model you decide on we are here to help

Thanks guys, I noticed a thread in the WWII Germany area about a Tamiya Bf109 E-4 and they all looked good, I think I'll look into getting one here soon to start after I finish my P-40B that I'm working on as a "getting back into the hobby" model.

Don't forget the Hobbycraft 109s.

Good little kits, they are inexpensive and build into very respectable Messers!

OllieC-FWOL is correct, the Hobbycraft 109s are pretty good. Accurate in shape and simple models, perfect for the new returner. The decals leave something to be desired but I'm sure, if you went that route we could russle up some markings for you between us
