G'day guys
well at about 3 o'clock PM i gave up hope finding some RAAF marking for a 1/48 Mustang used during Korea, and decidided id make up my own on the pc.
sounds easy enough, but it wasnt, lol :-)
i encounterent many hard obsticales, like figuring out how to get the edges of the Cicular markings smooth, and not jagged n' pixelated, which took about an hour to get done, LOL :-)
then i had to run about 5 print tests till i got it to the size that was correct.... and once that one was done, i was able to measure up all the rest by comparing to that decal.
Anyway, i guess the moral of this enthrawling story is Never give up :-)
P.S. if anyone wants to leech off my hard work i will be more than happy to send you the finished file, so you can print yourself out some lovely 1/48 RAAF F-51D Mustang decals
cheers

Thanks for showing me your efforts I think you have done a very very good job and would look good on your mustang.

Depending on what painting program your using, you should be able to select anti-alaising when drawing shapes

Photoshop should have it

In Paint you have to do it pixel by pixel

I have put forward a suggestion that we setup a new resource section for decal artwork. It makes sense to have a database of artwork so we can all benefit from and contribute to.

There cannot be many armorama members without an inkjet printer and a desire for a new set of decals for their latest kit...

What do ya think? Good idea? If we can get enough members interested then its going to get airborne.

I say its a excellent idea Vince, so long as Jim makes sure its clear no one can nick our works and start selling them, then i say go for it!

Ok ... I have got an inkjet printer, decal paper and the latest Corel Graphics Suite 12.

I just need to learn how to do use CorelDraw now :-)
My sister is buying me a book 'the official guide book to CorelDraw 12' as a xmas present. So I will be getting some practise in over the vacation.

Anyone else on armorama used CorelDraw? If so - how did you get on with it?

I might be able to pursued my girlfriend to buy me a scanner too. (:-)

Just think - one set of decals from a vector drawing - resize to any scale, then print off.
