Anyone ever build the Academy 1/48 scale MH-6 helicopter? How's it build?

I'm in the process of helping my son build one right now. It's an ok kit. The detail is lacking (the instrument panel is a decal, for example) and the fit is decent. My son is still learning the basics, so I haven't devled into trying to make it look fantastic, but it looks like it would take some effort to make it shine.

If you have any specific questions, please let me know and I'll gladly try to answer them.

I was fortunate and found the very old Eduard PE set for the Hughes 500 (what the hey--only $5). It adds a PE instrument panel and clear film dials along with seat belts.

So I gather you've not run into problems with fit, etc.? Mine is the "Stealth" one molded in black with orange tinted clear parts, devoid of decals. Should look like one of those generic "secret military helicopters" from the movies.

This fit is pretty good overall. The pedals in the cockpit were a bit touch & go. Overall, there aren't many parts and it builds quickly.

I wasn't too keen on the clear parts. The forward radar/sensor array seemed awkward to me, as did the placement of several of the larger clear windows. Just had to be extra careful with those. It's not a bad kit. It's cheap enough and it could be great for a dio setting.

anyone know where to find on of those in 1/72 scale? I'm looking for one for a dio idea. A C-130 can hold as many as 3. its a pretty cool site to see.
