Well there seemed to be quite an interest in my thread about pics for the aircraft gallery, over 360. Unfortunately not many of you seem to have pics of P-47s. I deliberately stayed away from Messerschmitts and Focke Wolves, because you see them everywhere. I would have thought there would be plenty of P-47s out there but apparently not, or do you simply not want to post pics? One of the aims of doing this was to have more pics shown on the board, not just to get pics in the gallery. So even if you feel your pics aren't good enough for the gallery, they will be plenty good enough to show here. You may also be pleasantly surprised, or it might just be that the pictures need to be better. There is plenty of advice for that so no more excuses
I will leave the P-47 thread on going, so if you have a change of heart it will still be there.
Lets try a different tack. What aircraft would you like to see in the Gallery? Post a reply depending on what model you have and are happy to post a picture of. Don't post a pic yet, wait until we see what is the most popular. That will be the chosen one then I will start another thread for pics. :-) No holding back now. I won't put up a choice I'm waiting to see what you want.

No worries, Henk :-) The Herc will also be useful, just that I'm trying to get more model pics. You don't have to hide away in the Armoured Vehicle section :-)
Well so far, on a purely selfish note I can post pics of everything mentioned so far, except the Skyhawk and Stormovik. Although some of them are my early attempts.
Modern aircraft are welcome as well as WWI, in between the wars and post war. Some early jets would be great. There are no restrictions on scale. Any more takers? Don't worry if you are new to modelling or think your models aren't good enough. It's good to get your stuff seen, ask if you want some constructive criticism, say if you don't. It is also possible that a novice section can be created in the gallery. I think it would be a great boost for some to be able to track the progress of each other?

Hmm, I could contribute the following. All are 1/48th.

B-25J
F4U-1A
F-18C
P-61

Some are better than others. I think they look decent, but not spectacular.

As for getting the "best" posted to the gallery, what about a "Best of the Month" contest? I'm not sure if it would cause hard feelings, but open up a couple of categories, possibly by scale (1/48+, under 1/48) and have people vote on submissions entered by a certain date.

From my observation, posters on this site have been extremely mature and it just might work.

Hi Gunfighter, the idea of having a monthly "competition" is a fair idea, but from experience it would take longer than amonth to get enough pics posted to warrent a monthly bash. I was thinking of trying something like Modelling Madness' picture competition, based on a theme. This could be a fun thing or maybe prizes could be given (I have no fund for prizes but I have a couple of items that I was sent for review which I would donate). Maybe we can have a pledge of models and related items, from members. An item could be chosen and that is the prize. Just brainstorming, anyone have any ideas on this?

HoldFast - I'll need to check out that theme idea over at Modeling Madness.

Another possibility in lieu of prizes - something similar to the medals/awards given for participating in the campaigns. If someone is good at designing medal-like artwork, those could be awarded to the winner. Though not as glamorous as a physical prize, it does make it easier than having to deal with shipping a physical prize and the associated headaches.

Hi all

Just back from my Seasonal Jaunt to the Isle of Wight.

How about setting up "Quarterly Builds". i.e. Jan, April, July, & Oct with a vote in advance to chose the subject.

A three-month slot should allow most modellers to get "stuck in" and, if you don't finish, there's always next time...

All the best

I think if we do this then 3 months is about the right amount of time. It does give members time to finish a model but the idea is to post picks of completed models not, idealy , build a model, when it would be a group build :-) Any more thoughts on this idea, or any thoughts on pictures of models you are willing to post?
So far we have:-
Corsair 3
Zero 2
F6F Hellcat
F4F Wildcat
A-4 Skyhawk
P-51 Mustang
Il2 Stormovik
F16
B-25
F-18
P-61
So far the Corsair is in the lead any others?

Ok as there doesn't appear to be any other takers I'll post a few:
Zero
P-38 Lightning
P-40
F6F Hellcat
F4F Wildcat
La 7
F14
F15
F16
That will do for the time being, that makes the list now:
Corsair 3
Zero 3
F6F Hellcat 2
F4F Wildcat 2
A-4 Skyhawk
P-51 Mustang
Il2 Stormovik
F16 2
B-25
F-18
P-61
P-38 Lightning
P-40
La 7
F14
F15
Ok, now I've brought this back to the top we will just see if there are any other takers. Will the Zero beat the Corsair or will the F16, F6F or F4F come up on the rails and win :-)
