Well, so who's building it.
I AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yup, I broke away from modern 1/35 armor and figures. I couldnt resist!!!!!!
This kit is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just told Porkchop I was going to get back on the saddle and start back with the figures and armor, but right after I finish this buety!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to try and write up a "LAMENS" article or review on this kit. Especially since I dont build aircraft that often and I dont know the lingo. I want to write from the prespect of a builder who knows nothing about aircraft.

So what do you all think about the kit?

I just got mine from the UPS guy yesterday (along with a Dragon Wagon in the same box - it was a good day!). I've only opened it at this point, but I can't wait to dig in.

I think the article written from the "common" builder's perspective would be a great idea. I see over at Aircraft Resource Center that they're frustrated that the kit is the wrong block and it'll require so much work to get to whatever their "expectation" is. It's a shame to seem so much negativity over such a nice kit.

Exactly what I mean.
I'm in the Army and I know nothing of aircraft, but I do appriciate a well engineered kit. I couldnt tell you the difference between and block this and a block that!!!!!!!!! Everything on the kit fit well and as a matter of fact, I didnt use any putty on it!!!!!!!!

The only thing I didnt like, is that you have to install the landing gear before you close the fusalage halves up. I've built a couple of aircraft before, like the Academy 1/32 F-18, and you you know how you leave off the landing gear for easy masing and painting. Well, the F-16, you have to attach the gears and they are in the way of easy masking.

Well, hopefully, it will have its first coat of paint this weekend. I am also working on tamiya's F-14A. I guess I like the big jets because its so close to 1/35 armor scale!!!!!!!!!!

Well guys, Vodnik beat me to it. He already has a inbox review in the "Reviews" section and I'm pretty sure he will have a cnstruction article following. But may be I will still right a little something, once again, from the prespective of a novice aircraft builder.

Epi - I think it's an excellent perspective for writing a review. What kind of problems did you run into, fit, finish, etc. Those kinds of things I feel would be useful to all novice builders, irregardless of their typical subject matter preference.

I'm on hold for now. We're supposed to move in the next six weeks, so I don't want to get too involved in anything. I've got this huge pile of stuff just begging me to build: 1/32 F/A-18C (Academy), this kit, a R/M 1/48 B-17, 1/48 RoG B-24D... a bunch more, too. I hear them beckoning to me in my sleep... :-)

Same here on the pile up of kits. I'll think about the write up. In the mean time, I promised Porkchop i would do some write ups on some figures for the Figure Forum content. But i will definatley post some pictures before I paint it and after its painted!

Pete,

You'll have your article long before I could write one. It will be quite some time before I actually start building my Viper. Currently I would have to use the "store it in the box" feature immediately after I build it, as I simply have no display space available in my current appartment for 1/32 planes. But by the end of this year I should live in a new place with enough display space for all my models

I here you on that one Pawel. Im running out of space too with the F-18 and now the F-14 and F-16. I didnt think the F-14 was going to be so big until i got the fusalage and wings together. I am definately going back to armor after these two are built.

I'm trying to decide where I'll display my 1/32 kits as well. As much as I hate to admit it, my wife may be right in that it's going to be difficult to display them properly. It's painful, but she's right..

But, when there's a will, there's a way!

However, that 1/48 B-1B I just received might just be overboard. I've never seen a model kit box that big before save the 1/350 aircraft carriers!

Can't wait to see some pics myself. From what I've seen and heard about it, it's supposed to be a fantastic kit to build.
Good luck on your build.

Doug,
Let me tell you, I recieved the kit New Years Day from Squadron and started the following week. No flash, hardly any ejector marks and if so, they cant bee seen. Fit is really good. All the parts that move, like the flaps, stabalizers, and rudder (I think thats what its called), move without no problem. The parts that are ment to be removed, like the engine and gun panels come off really easy.
I will definately try and get some before paint pics up this weekend.
