This post doesn't answer your question, but it is a nice picture of the subject.

I think you're talking about having trouble with the fit and painting of the glass parts?

I got to the same stage on both the Italeri and Hasegawa birds back before I knew about Bare Metal Foil as a masking tool. They sat in storage, partly built for a couple of years.
Now I recently started using Bare Metal Foil to mask canopies and they're both back on the bench.

If you don't know what Bare Metal Foil is, or get any his won't be much help, sorry...

But now that I have managed to drip the canopy glasses into Future floor polish and let them dry, I've been able to cover the canopies with BMF, install with Tacky glue ( a thicker stickier white glue from craft stores). The Tacky glue fills gaps relatively well, doesn't react to the paint, and is removable if need be without damaging the kit.

Now all I have to do is find some time to fire up the airbush and paint the interior color over the canopy first, then the exterior color. This will let the viewer see through the canopy and see the interior color on the inside of the opposite side of the canopy..
