Hi there

Hopefully that got your attention!

So, how does it work?
The idea behind this is very simple - it's a kind of User of the Month for Aircraft submissions. In the last week of the month, we'll call for nominations - so simply look back over the last month and choose what you think is the best new aircraft build on Armorama - it can be in a Feature, a Full-Build Review or a Thread.

How do I nominate a winner?
Once you've found your favourite Aircraft model, just announce the Member and Subject in the monthly thread.

How do I vote?
The crucial thing is to ensure that your account is set to Aircraft focus. Each month you will see a new Poll for Aircraft Model of the Month - just enter your vote... it's as simple as that.

Just like UOM, a build can only win once - I will keep track ... - so don't please nominate previous winners.

It's about time for the first nominations! So get hunting... check out the threads and Gallery and post your nominations for the first Aircraft Model of the Month here.

All the best

Hey, Good Idea, but that puts the pressure on Mal to finish at least one a month :-)

I agree... very cool idea
Just a suggestion too that would help build up pics in the gallery. Set up a gallery just for the aircraft model of the month and put a couple really good pics of the winner in the gallery. After a while that should be a really nice gallery. It also gives a small lasting bit of posterity and recognition for all the winners.

Good modeling,

Excellent idea Rowan, am I correct in assuming that you can't nominate your own stuff :-)
Chuck, there is no way I would even attempt to finish one a month :-)
Wingman, you've got an excellent choice there.
I'll take a look Rowan, is this going to be the first nominations thread?

Nice idea Wayne. In fact, we could go one better and also do a monthly On Display Feature for the winning build. It would be nice to be able to include a bit of extra background info too but, one way or another, it would be a guaranteed Front-page for the winner.

...am I correct in assuming that you can't nominate your own stuff[?]... Rowan, is this going to be the first nominations thread?

Hi Mal

As you can guess, this is all very "up in the air" to start with! I'm happy to be overruled, but my gut instinct is "No - you shouldn't nominate your own build" - of course, you CAN vote for your own stuff... it'll be an anonymous vote!

And, yes... this is the first month's nomination thread. Nominations for the first Poll must be made here this week - I'll start the Poll for January next Sunday - January 30th Midday London time - so you've all got a week to look back through the threads etc.

As it's the first Model of the Month, I'll allow a bit of slack for the entry date - Wingman's nomination with a Nov. 20th date is fine - in future we may be a bit more strict.

All the best - and get nominating!

This is a good idea; I hope it does lead to many more pictures of finished models being posted here in the aircraft thread.

I would like to nominate warthog2's Nakajima A6M2. I really like the weathering on the float! Makes me want to try.

Can we nominate more than one? If so I nominate this Fiat Br-20 by GunNut.

Hi Mal

Nice idea posting the pics of your nominations!

Originally, I'd envisaged just one nomination each - but only because that's the way UOM runs these days. I actually much preferred it when we could nominate two candidates - so let's try that here.

The main thing is to get as many great models as possible nominated - and get them the exposure they deserve!

Let's see if I can add the picture of the Nakajima A6M2 by warthog2 then.

archerwin15's 1/72 scaleMesserschmitt Me 163?

or riversphynxz's 1/72 scale Starfighter?

I might cheat a bit - well, it IS the first month - and nominate some more...

Being open to two nominations each I would like to add a nomination for Gabrieskis P-47 by wingman.
Very nice job and the spinning prop looks cool too.

Hi all

Sorry, work's kept me off-site for the last few days.

Well... I DID warn you I'd cheat! LOL!! This is all in good cause - If I'm labelled a "Cheat " for promoting more great Aircraft builds on Armorama - then that's a badge I'm proud to wear!

I'm happy to to see mega-multiple nominations... the main thing is that the VOTE is fair. So PLEASE... make sure you've got your focus set as AIRCRAFT.

So... check out these builds:

Holdfast's 1/48 Typhoon:

CRS's "Pogo":

and, of course... Wingman's OTHER P-47:

This first vote is really a test-shot... sorting out the system but, judging from the interest, I think the idea is sound.

I'll close the nominations in about 15 hours time... Noon GMT on Sunday... so if you want to nominate a build for the first Aircraft Model of the Month, add your nomination in this thread by then.

All the best... and Thank You to all who've helped get this underway.
