this is my entry in the project x campaign, its a hasagawa 1/48 kit more or less built oob. i used a pre shading technique, together with a fine pencil to bring out the panel lines, and the mottling is freehand
p.s. you can see this kit coming together in my gallery

Very nice Phil, is the night fighter version a seperate boxing or is it an option in one box?

its a separate boxing, that as far as i can tell uses the bomber recon version as a start point. in my kit i had frames for cameras, and the section below the radar ops compartment is a clear part which if painted over, looks like blanked camera windows, having said that, it seems the real aircraft was also assembled in this way, a giveaway being that the guns are in a bomb shaped pod shackled to the fusalage hardpoint, the instructions also had you still using the bombsight which i wondered about, but put it in anyway. it appears that although this is a dedicated nightfighter, it could become a bomber again simply by swapping the guns for a bomb.
p.s.this is the kit i was asking for info about scribing panel lines on, your article about rescribing came just after i had repaired the missing lines. one thing though is that for some i only used a fine pencil to draw a line instead of cutting it into the plastic.where this was done is the areas just before and after the wing join, wondered what you thought of that method?

Impressive! I'm a sucker for German mottling schemes and yours looks great. I've always wanted to give that scheme a go, but until I get an airbrush, I don't even want to try!
Congrats on the nice build!
