Hello all.
I am about to start a 1/32 F4U-1D Corsair, and I was inspired by the article in the current issue of FSM. I want to reproduce the kit that is featured in this article. I have already ordered the AM products needed for accurizing but I ran across something and I do not know what it is.
The Description is a F4U-1 Birdcage.
Can anyone help me with pictures, article or review? Thanks.

Not sure exactly what's in that set, but it is for the early Corsair versions with the "birdcage" canopy. The FSM article Corsair is an F4U-1, but the version with a semi-framed 'blown' canopy that is also popularly known as an F4U-1A.
In short, save your bucks -- you won't be needin any birdcage sets for what you're planning.
Here's a couple of Corsair links you might find pretty useful from a photo or drawings standpoint

No problem Chris -- I've got four different 1/48 Corsairs -- four different versions -- in differing statges of construction, and it's been one heck of a technical lesson. About the only way to learn is to dive in lol.
Scott Murphy, the guy who did the Corsair in FSM, has his own website with more photos of that project. I'll dig around for the link tonight and repost here.

WELL WELL WELL...... I guess it is safe to say that Scott knows what he is doing. Great Site. Thanks for the link.
BTW, i cam across a great deal on and Accurate Miniatures 1/48 P-51. Is this a good kit. Would you happen to know if it has recessed orraised panel ines? Just some general knowledge about the manufactuer. Thaks again, Mike.

Glad Murphy was of some assistance lol.
Accurate Miniatures kits are like sex -- even when they're bad, they're pretty good. I haven't seen the any of the P-51/A-36 series, but I heard from other reviews that the P-51A was the most fiddly of a generally good series of kits. So it should be worth the effort.
All of the AM Mustangs have recessed panel lines, so no rescibing required.
