I am new to aircraft modeling; mainly did armor up to this point, so I apologize if this is an old question...
I am getting conflicting research on when Luftwaffe fighter interiors switched from RLM02 to RLM 66...was it November '40 or '41?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Oatster
According to Michael Ullmann's book "Luftwaffe Colours 1935 - 1945", the changeover from RLM 02 to RLM 66 was announced in the November 1941 update of the LDv 521/1specifications.
All the best

Tehy are pretty much the same and only some of teh cockpit will be seen so it does not really matter (in my opinion).

Hi Philip
RLM 02 and RLM 66 weren't really that similar.
These patches were created using the closest accepted FS 595B matches with IPMS Stockholm's handy on-line colour generator :
Remember, the matches will only be as accurate as your monitor set-up, but the difference between the two should be clear enough.
Before 1941, RLM 66 was used for the instrument panel in the RLM 02 painted cockpit.
Hope this helps

Hi Philip,
That's a "No Go"...the 2 colors are quite different, with RLM 02 being a good deal lighter (RLM 66 is basically a mild Black-Grey). You're not too far off on how well it's seen, though! Granted, depending on who the paint manufacturer is, they differ more than some....it seems Polly Scale and Gunze-Sangyo have pretty good representations of them, though..
Cheers,
JK

Thanks for your help guys!
Now what to do about my 1/72 BF109 E-7 with a finished and RLM 66 cockpit that has been placed in the fuselage already...I'm sure I can get in there with a brush.
Thanks again!
