Also I would like to know if any Irai planes were shot down during the Last Guls war ?
Cheers,
Marc

Touchy subject but, if your plan is to dio a downed US aircraft the FA-18 is probably your best bet as we lost a couple of those, others were helicopters Apache and Blackhawk. As for the Iraqi air force I do not think there were any air engagements in the recent operation.
EDIT: Upon futher research I did find references to engagements between F-18's and F-15's against Mig-25's in "Gulf War One" out come unconfirmed.

There were no air-to-air engagements in Operation Iraqi Freedom. The only aircraft I have knowledge of being shot down during OIF are :
OH-58 Kiowa
AH-64 Apache
UH-60 Blackhawks
Predator UAV's
During Desert Storm the I know of the following fixed wing aircraft types being shot down:
OA-10 Thunderbolt II
AV-8B Harrier II
F/A-18 Hornet (Scott Spicher is still MIA)
AC-130
There are probably others but I cannot remember at the moment.

OA-10 Thunderbolt II???
Maybe you mean A-10 Thunderbolt II (USAF) or or OV-10 Bronco (USMC).
Both types were lost in Desrt Storm.

In GW1, aircraft shot down included F-15E, an F-14, an AC-130, RAF Tornados, and numberous others. I don't have the specifics on me right now, but I'll see what I can find.
On the Iraqi side, just about everything fighter was shot down. What wasn't shot down or blown up bugged out to Iran. Shot down aircraft include MiG-21 , MiG-23/27 Flogger, MiG-25 Foxbat, MiG-29, Su-17. Most Iraqi aircraft were blown up on the ground, including Tu-16, IL-76 AWACS, and every type of fighter and bomber in their inventory suffered casualties. Iran aquirred appx 24-36 Su-24 Fencers.
As for OIF, in the literal term "shot down," US Patriots shot down an RAF Tornado and an F-16 in OIF. I am not sure any fixed-wing aircraft were shot down by Iraqi forces in the initial invasion. Losses by US forces were limited to rotary aircraft, most notably the AH-64D Longbow Apache.
