My beloved said she would buy me this kit as she loves me (and she's obviously after something herself, but i don't know what yet). So has anyone bought this kit , what is the quality like and are there any A.M parts for it that i would need. This would be my first aircraft in quite a few years so i'll be taking my time with it to try and get it right.
Thanks Andy

Hi Andy,
2 weeks ago I finally got my hands on the AM B-25C/D. It is a superb kit. Buy with confidence, you wont need any aftermarket stuff. When building AM kits take your time, read the instructions and only proceed when you fully understand what is required. That might sound scary but it isn't, their instructions are superb also and are of the "explanation" type. The kit has full interior detail and weights so it aint a tail dragger.
Look forward to seeing progress, I'm contemplating doing mine as an online build.

Thanks Mal, i think i will get the beloved to buy it for me. I will build it slowly and surely and if i get stuck the big A is where to come for advice. I won't be doing it as an online build though, too scary for me, but i'll be watching yours with interest.

I had to buy my own you lucky dog. :-)
I haven't decided to do it as an online build, yet. I have 4 on the go at the moment, you'll find 'em in the aircraft gallery: "On the workbench"
I've had a request to build Tamiya's Beufighter, so it's a difficult choice.

Maybe, it all depends on what she wants in return :-)
I'll second the Beufighter build as thats one beautiful airplane.
The models on the workbench all look good to me, can't wait to see them finished.

I'm concentrating on the Fw190 at the moment, but there will be movement on the others soon

I'm currently finishing a B-25D from Accurate Miniatures, and I totally hated my experience.

Overly complicated kit, fidly to the extreme. Fit is so-so, which is not a factor for me, but since I had lots of troubles making everything fit in the fuselage, I was rather fed up with it.

It should look good on the shelf though.

Here's my tip : don't bother with the interior, don't fit it save for the cockpit and the bombardier's station.

Thanks for the heads up Oliver, i'll try me best with it but if you see a half finished Mitchell fly over your area you'll know i've got the hump with it :-) :-) :-)

Maybe Oliver got a bad kit. I'm currently building the "G" and have nothing but praise for it. Everything is fitting well and moving along nicely, slowly, but nicely. THe only drawback I am finding at this point is the amount of painting I am doing. Lots and lots of colors in many different locations. I changed my tactic for the build though. I have gone thru and cleaned up all my parts and placed them in small baggies with other parts that will get the same paint color. I go from bag to bag painting those specific parts. So far, so good. Currently working on the radio operators/top turret station. I'll try and get some pics up soon. Great kit in my opinion. "Q"

Thanks Matthew. Good idea bagging parts up, but knowing my luck i'd have a part left over after completing the kit :-) :-)

Mmmm, maybe it's worth doing the on-line build of the AM B-25 after all, but then again I was supposed to be doing the Stormovik first. Decisions, decisions

No problems!

I'll be getting a Monogram B-25, I'm sure it'll be easier to build!

Less parts and less money to get it.

Granted more putty, but putty will always be cheaper than styrene!

Hi Ollie

I'm surprised to hear you had such a bad experience with the AM B-25. The only knocks I've heard previously are about the pilot and co-pilot's seats and the shape of the cowlings - Ohh!.. and cramming the ballast in the nose...

The Revell-Monogram kit is, rightfully, a classic. I've got one on the shelf and, with some re-scribing, it's well on a par with today's kits.

All the best
