G'day guys
I am starting to get totally confused with these P40 variants, pics on the net seem to have the wrong names so i can never tell which one is a true "C" or "E" etc..
Anyway, i am looking for diagrams that show top, side, bottom, head on views, etc, of the P40 B, C, D, E and N.
Even if you know of only one of the above, please let me know, i would really appreciate it.
Cheers

David, I feel for you as I am in the same boat. Just as I think I have it down, it all changes! The names attached to the P-40 variants also gets confusing; Tomahawk, Warhawk, or Kittyhawk, never know which goes where. In RAF and Commonwealth service the P-40 was designated as just Kittyhawk!
Great you say, No- from what I have found, the P-40 F & L were designated Kittyhawk II, the P-40 K, L & M were designated Kittyhawk III, P-40L in RAF and Commonwealth service were known as Kittyhawk II, Kittyhawk IIA and Kittyhawk III.
The first 200 – 230 (still busy) P-40 F & L were also known as Kittyhawk Mk IIA I’m still trying to sort this out!
One thing is sure just about all the Allies including Brazil and China used the P-40N.
To me http://www.p40warhawk.com/ is a good site for just about all the info on P-40s, this includes diagrams and factory drawings under the Technical sub menu! Got some of this list’s info from there:
Curtiss:
XP-40 (prototype)
YP-40 (First three P-40s served as test models)
P-40 (Tomahawk I after upgrades and modifications Tomahawk II)
P-40A (Only one Ser No 40-326 converted to reconnaissance model)
P-40B (Tomahawk IIA)
P-40C (Tomahawk IIB)
P-40D (Kittyhawk I)
P-40E (Kittyhawk IA)
P-40F Warhawk (Kittyhawk II and Goshawk)
P-40G (P-40s fitted with Tomahawk Mk IIA (P-40 F & L) wings)
P-40J Warhawk
P-40K Warhawk (Kittyhawk III)
P-40L Warhawk (Kittyhawk II, Kittyhawk IIA & Kittyhawk III)
P-40M Warhawk (Kittyhawk III)
P-40N Warhawk (Kittyhawk IV)
P-40Q Warhawk
P-40R Warhawk
Plus post WWII they became F-40 (Pursuit changed to Fighter). Also there are multiple designations for conversions.
Have a look at http://www.pioneeraero.co.nz/p-40n_kittyhawk.htm for info and photos on a restored P-40N in RAAF service. There are quite a few projects on P-40s. Hope this helps!

Hi there ,
I have to tell that the reference to the Kittyhawk MKIIA
being also classed as a MKIII is unfortunately totally incorrect. The only P40L Kittyhawk MKIIA received by the RAF were serialled FS400-499. These were either held in Storage or used by 3 Sq RAAF in Sicily and Italy
The Sq used 55 I have code and serial tie ups.
The serials quoted By Joe Bauer and on the P40 site are indeed for Kittyhawk MKIII , but these are P40K not L model
My e-mail is terry.jackie@btopenworld .com.
Please feel free to contact me off board . I quite a few photo's of RaF RAAF Kittys plus serial and subtype info

No problem ,
Only too glad to help . I've been looking into Kittyhaks , more especially the Desert Airfore , since I bought the Purnell Book Pacific Hawks back in 1968.
I know how difficult it is to get to the real facts , since the same mis-interpreted info gets repeated .
Can you send that e-mail again as it appears to have gone into my spam box along with adverts for viagra!!
Cheers
