Greetings all;
For all you WWI wingnuts and the casual "closet" biplane builder here is a bit of fun.

Also I have just opened a "Flea Market" where I will sell kits for a nominal price. Less than perfect and out of production kits. Kits for building or collecting.

Hey Almonkey; At the First Fighter Competition at Adlershof in January 1918 it was decided to manufacture the Fokker D.VI as a move to insure enough rotary engine fighters would be available for frontline operations. Since the Oberursel Ur.III 145hp and the Goebel Goe III 160hp or the Siemens-Halske Sh III 160-220hp were still in short supply due to production concerns, the Fokker V.13 with its very reliable Oberursel Ur.II 120hp was chosen to go into production. Make no mistake, while there are physical similarities between the Fokker company’s Dr.I and the D.VI, one was not developed from the other. Like any engineering concern the Fokker designers had formulas that they used for aircraft specifications, especially concerning the type and weight of an installed motor in an airframe. The closest similarity to the D.VI (rotary) is the D.VII (inline six.) Fokker built one for type testing in the ‘low altitude operations class’ and one for ‘higher altitude operations class.’ The Fokker D.VI was to make up the partial compliment of Jagdstaffel 80b. In Jasta 64w (Fokker D.VI 1679/18), Kest 4b (Fokker D.VI 1648/18 ? ) and in Kest 1a, single examples were used for rotary engine familiarization flights by its pilots. These units were designated to receive the new Pfalz D.VIII with the Sh III 160-220hp and had been flying Albatros D.Va types with worn-out inline six Mercedes D.IIIaü 180hp.

Hey Almonkey. There a 1/72 scale kit of the Fok. D.VI available...I think one of the Eastern companies. Toko or Roden or some such.

Greetings all;
I just added the Jasta and Jagdgeschwader Files to my website. These are the combat logs, rosters and airfield locations for each of the 81 German army fighter units in the 1914 -1918 air war.

Greetings all;

Just added the downloads and CDs to the Eduard 1/48 #8035 Albatros Profipack build, the Eduard Alb. D.III with the addition of the Eduard aftermarket set #48263 and finally after deleteing it mistakenly... rewriting it twice and misplacing for four months the jump drive I had it on. (That turned up today in my son's toy box.) The build up of the Eduard Profipack #8033 Nieuport 17 C.1.

Greetings all;

I just added the Eduard 1/48 Fokker D.VII build to my site. I'm afraid I really went over board with both the Download (27 images) and the CD versions (Over a hundred.) I have to thank Mark Miller and Rowan Baylies for their kind assistance in allowing me to use several of their images for illustration along with my build images.

Greetings all;

Have just added several reviews for your consideration. The 1/48 Special Hobby 48009 Spad VII and the DML / Dragon 5902 & 04 Spad XIII in Download & CD Versions.

Also a detailed review of an actual Spad XIII cockpit just before renovation. Where I identify all of the cockpit structures, gauges and plumbing in CD & Download as well.

of course at this moment in time i have half an eye on the zeppelin staaken kit
i used a Part etch set on an avro 504 kit by amodel, that i'm sure was a copy of the old airfix one (thats just been rereleased) it made a real basic kit into something really nice(although i got the skid spectacularly wrong, it points down at nearly 45 degrees!)

Greetings all;

I have recently finished adding several new areas to my site.

Flea market, Is for WWI aviation kits I have picked up but don't intend on building. These are all nominally priced. For the builder or collector . I usually get these in when I purchase other peoples collections.

Collectors Corner, Top of the line kits but usually those out of production. Hard to find jewels.

Documents, are either based in modeling WWI kits like the How to Rig kits or the real history items like Jasta documantations, Spad interior study, American aviation units and etc. Enjoy.

Starting Oct. 15, 2006 our list of downloads will decrease as we prepare to add newer kit reviews. While the CD versions will still be offered on all reviews the DLV versions will no longer be available on some kits. This will be based on kit availability and past customer demand. We are just growing folks.

Greetings all;

I have added some kit reviews and a walkaround series for detailed high res images of replca aircraft. The real value for modelers are colour references and how the light plays on the surfaces of the airframe.

Much about the cockpit equipment is an attempt at replicating original fixtures but in some cases they have large departures from original equipment for modern safety or regulatory reasons.

Then there are the 'personal schemes" applied to the few WWI replicas that have nothing to do with 1914 - 1918 schemes. I will attempt to clearly label these for the reader.
