Hi there
I've made a start on Hasegawa's 1/48 Macchi c.205 Veltro (Greyhound). Basically, I've been messing about cleaning up the parts and adding a bit of detail to the cockpit.
There's a fair amount of "gizmology" based on pics of a c.202 cockpit in Squadron's In Action book. I found some diagrams of a c.205 "office", but no photos so far - although I've found plenty of photos of the Velto exterior on the Internet; any links would be very welcome.
I still want to add a few more bits and pieces and some cable ties, but at least it looks "busy" and, hopefully, it should reasonable when it's painted.
The big question next is whether to try to scratch-do an Italian seat harness, or rob one from something like Classic Airframes' CR.42!
I'll post again when I've managed to do some painting.
All the best
Rowan

Looks like you're off to a good start, Rowan !
It's not a big pic, and it doesn't show much, but at least it's color.
Hope this helps !

Cheers Bill
That's great! II can see it's basically along the same lines as the c.202.
Also, that pic seems to confirm something I was trying to make out in wartime photos - the inside of the canopy framing looks black...
Many thanks
Rowan

No, this is a con, Rowan actually finding the time to build something na
I was planning on starting my 205 soon, I have just sent off for the Colourcoats paints from WEM. I'll be building my SM 79 too
Nice work so far Rowan, or is that the work of your friend :-)
Oh, nearly forgot, scratch the seat harness, you know it makes sense. It's not as if you haven't got the time :-)

Sorry Rowan plenty of exterior pictures and 202 cockpit but no 205 cockpit.
All info I have does indicate that the canopy frame on 202's was 'Anticorrosione Verde' a pale grey/green colour. I hope this is of some help.

Carried out a search and found some pictures on the following site:

I also stand corrected as the canopy frame looks to be part interior green and part black.
Hope this helps

Hi Luciano
Many thanks for that link! Do you know... I have a horrible feeling I skimmed past it and didn't scroll down to those cockpit shots when I did my own search! Dohh!
The black framing has surprised me too. I'd always assumed Anticorrosione Verde, but the B&W photo of the c.202 instrument panel in the Squadron book shows what looks like black inside the windscreen. That got my interest piqued and I started hunting through all my WW2 pics for confirmation. On most of the shots, the canopy interior is in shadow, but just a couple of photos seemed to show black (or a very dark colour).
These pics of the preserved aircraft are a real boon.
Hi Mal - I can understand your shock and suspicion! I don't often get much building done these days! Even more surprising; I actually did a little bit more when I got back from the Isle of Wight this evening, so I should try to get some painting down this week if work permits.
Don't tempt me with talk of SM.79s!... I've now got two Classic Airframes versions, one Eduard special edition with extra etched details etc. and Trumpeter's curate's egg of a kit - all sat on the shelf waiting 'till I have the time and space to build them... LOL!
All the best
Rowan

So are we opening a pool to see if Rowan really finishes this bad boy? Personally I've got a good feeling that he's going to get it done, but if history is a guide...hahahah :-) :-) :-) :-)
Looking good so far... have you chosen a scheme for it yet?

Hi Scott
LOL! I really had better finish this if people are laying bets on me! What are the odds? I might to well to bet against myself!
Colour scheme? Well, the obvious one tto tackle is the classic "smoke rings", but I also think the ANR "herringbone" schemes look neat - and then there are some great hybrid ones...
