I have updated my FW190D-9 online build. This is the final painting stages and I have been trying out my latest theory on pre-shading. Take a look and tell me what you think, but please remember that the pics were taken to hilight the effect and it is far more subtle in real life. I also expect it to be toned down when I add the Klear coat, which will happen tomorrow.
Heres a link to the online builds: On the Workbench
And a couple of pics of the mottled fuselage:

Very nice Mal. The mottle looks great. What type of airbrush did you use? Wingman out.

Mottle looks good - can't see any evidence of preshading in the photos.

I use an Evolution gravity fed double action with a 0.2 mm set up (I also have the the 0.4mm set up but necer use it)

Take a look at my online build, that is where I have "highlighted" the pre-shading. Also take a look at my article "To pre-shade or not to pre-shade" which will give you an insight into my thoughts into this process. This model is my first attempt at a new way to do this, for darker colours, rather than use black. The theory works, I just have to refine the method.
The pictures included here are not intended to show the pre-shading, I don't think that is viable or even disireable on mottle camo? There is evidence of the pre-shading on the RLM76 (bottom pic) but these pics weren't taken to highlight it. It is very subtle, as it should be and is done using black, which works well for light colours.
