Seems many WWI skysteedsm had wicker seats. I've never been happy with molded kit seats, textured or not.
From my Blue Max Phonix D. I took the plastic seat, loosely put pantyhose over it, a brush of liquid glue, and held it down with a knife handle until it set. Then dry overnight.
Next day I pulled it tight around the sides and secured it with superglue.
Note: I have no idea what kind of nasty fumes could be produced by nylon and glues. I do know, from netting an infantry helmet, that superglue + nylon generates so much heat AND FAST, that it'll burn your fingers if you touch it!
