Here is my second CH-46. This one I scribed in a boat load of panel lines. Added some cargo, pallets are scratchbuilt from plastic.
The new panel lines are outlined in pencil. Needs some weathering, then a coat blue w/ the stars.

Thanks Cheyenne, the kit is Academy's 1/48th CH-46E. The red, white and blue is painted using Tamiya's paints. For the strips, masking tape. The stars, also masking cut from a computer program. Finishing the blue tonight and hopefuly some weathering.

Simply amazing. Your pallets are awesome. I remember you saying how hard it was to see all the minute detail that you scratchbuilt in your first one. It doesn't seem like you did too much extra interior work (?), minus the pallets of course.
What do you plan to do with the rotors this time? I know you folded them on your first, but was wondering if you intended to extend them or continue folding them.
The nose are is going to be absolutely unreal I am sure.
Anyway, make a few more and start a 1/35 LHD! The more I think about this, the more I wonder about getting the ship guys of the site to pitch in and do sections of and upper LHD deck and superstructure, with you churning out the CH-46E, AH-1W, and UH-1Ns and then converting Revell's CH-53!

very nice, thats on my buy list right now. Have you checked out the PE set for this, internal and external, its on great models.com, just go to "search" and search up CH-46E I think there is 4 maybe 5 Eduard PE sets for this.
How big is this in inches? 12?
What reference did you use for the panel lines, or are you a rotorhead like my dad and know these things? haha
No I'm pretty sure the CH53E is the only helicopter with capabilities of transporting an LAV. There has been much debate over the CH-46E, whether or not it is still usefull, I personally, think we need it. The Osprey, if I remember right, was supposed to be a substitute for the CH-46E. The CH-46 only has a cargo transport weight of about 5,000 lbs. This is primarily a troop/supply helo, carries, 21, 22 troops? think 22 plus its two gunners. Also used as a medical evac helo. Does carry cargo in the big sling outside of the helo also.

Thanks guys...
Jeff, I plan on folding the blades as well. I have built just about all the helicopters you asked about. I have the CH-53, need to dig up a bit more info. Did very little on the inside, as I said before you see very little.
Shain, yes I have seen the PE sets for the CH-46. The first one I built I used Voyagers exterior PE set. As for the interior sets...well you really don't see them. I wanted to buy them at first, but looking at the kit and putting the fuselage halfs togather I noticed that once you button up, there's nothing to see. But don't let you stop from buying and judging for yourself.
Chuck, here a little more info as to what Shain was saying.
Additional tasks include support for evacuations, supply’s and equipment and over water search and rescues. Payload consists of:
Combat..2 pilots, aerial gunners, and 14 troops
Medical Evacuation.. 15 litters and 2 attendants
Cargo.. Max of 4,000lbs.

Good point, I guess it would be hard to see the PE seatbelts when it is all buttoned up, except for the cockpit. How did the exterior PE set work out for you?

Joe I hate to rain on your parade, but the stars and bars on the last pic are on up side down. I thought it might be me, but I can see in the pic of the actual helo in flight that you posted, they are on correctly I love the paint scheme. I'm thinking about doing mine in this scheme now as well. "Q"

Amazing job mother.
cant wait to see the finished nose art. and it is a far better way to do a nose art rather than using decal. That complex surface must be pain in the $$% to use decal on the nose. BTW, some star and stripes were supplied in the kit? and is the big no 63 (as in the photo) will be on the nose?
Great work again Joe.

Hey Red I noticed that myself this afternoon, meds. The other side is right, I have plans on replacing that decal.
Silantra, none of the kit supplyed decals where use. Yes the 63 will be on the nose and the sides. Thanks guys.
Edit: all fixed now...
