Hi all,
Some of you may remember the brass Spitfire I posted
that was made during the war by my Grandfather.
I just came across this which was also made by him during
the war.
It's been in a box since we moved house and needs a good polish
but at least it's back on display where it sould be.
Right beside the Spit.
Vic

Nice one, again, Vic. Looks like the "cylinders" are made from machine screws? The blades are particularly well done. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Vic
Things like this are priceless and unique reminders of war on the home front. I'd be careful cleaning it - don't just wade in with the Silvo - maybe get professional advice.
Whch company did your Grandfather work for? There may be a historical society who'd be very interested in items like this.
All the best
Rowan

Hi Mal,,
Thanks for your comment,
Yes the cylinders were made out of cut off bolts.

Hi Rowan,
Good point about cleaning it, I'll look into that.
My Grandfather and Father worked for the Rolls Royce Aero factory and BAC (Bristol Aeroplane Company) in Bristol.
Bristol cars used to be made up there as well.
The employees used to make all sorts, ranging from lighters out of bullit cases to aeroplane models.
I think my Mother still has a couple of the cigarette lighters hangung around.
