hello everyone
I was curious to know how everyone diplays their aircraft do you just have it standing on a shelf hanging from the roof or on some ground work
Since i have a curse on me (i can never get the wheels aligned) i hang mine from the roof of my bedroom.

I plan how I'm going to build and display my AC on two things - how 'cool' the landing gear are or how much 'real estate' on shelves for the particular kit there is.
If I like the way a kit looks with gear down I build it that way and place them on a base or a shelf.
If I like the way a kit looks with gear up or I don't have space I hang my AC from the ceiling with fishing line.

All of my kits are currently sitting on shelves until I can get a case built to put them in. We are in the prossess of building a new house and my case will be built then. Oh well, better late than never....

Mine are currently sitting on shelves in my model room. I am in the process of building display cabinates, mirror backed, glass shelves and of course glass doors, in my dining room. I will also be hanging lots of prints by Robert Taylor and Nicolas Trudgian. Trouble is its taking me about as long to finish my display cabinates as it does for me to finish a model :-)

Mine are currently sitting on the shelf but the F-14D I just started will be a new project in display technique as well. It will be built gear up and doors closed using supporting rods through the engine nozzles to a plaque to hold it up. I have had the desire to try this for a while but am just not getting around to trying it. Although it's an F-18 (single engine) and it's a different mounting method, this is the basic idea I'm talking about:

I built an F-117A OOB and had a great time with it. Wheels down is how I built it. Sitting on the bookshelf is how I display it.

Tin, did you ever take pics of your popsicle stick carrier deck? I need to go and get some 'craft sticks' and try and make a base for my Corsair...

When I just built cars, it was easy. Plastic display cases on my bookshelves, and a few in the China Cabinet. (Hey, I'm single...Okay?) Now that I am getting back into Aircraft, I have to be a bit more creative. I was using a couple of old stereo racks. The ones with the glass doors, that everybody had in the mid to late eighties. They are easy pickings at garage sales, because the stereos are all fried out by now. Look for one with clear glass, and do whatever surgery you need to to fit you models, and make it look like a display case. If they had a clear lid for the phonograph, you can put a big model on the top, and look down on it, or you can put a light there, and illuminate the whole case. They still look kind of tacky though.

In my last place, I had some built in shelves, that were painted white. I simply added a piece of plexiglass to the front, on a slider, with magnetic catches, and used that. Now I am eyeballing the conversion of a pair of old bookcases. I will put a hinged acrylic door on the front, and I may decide to replace the shelves with acrylic sheet too. I will stick a couple of small under the counter style flourescent fixtures in them to light them up, or else, I will paint them white, and use room light. I may make a cutout in the top of the case, and put a light from a fishtank hood in, to light up the case. I used to raise fish, so I have a lot of these laying around. I have also used a large aquarium as a display case, but that is not cost effective unless you have a spare 180 gallon tank laying around.
