Hi all
manage to shoot a couple of photos of my 1/72 Hasegawa F-14 Hi-Viz.

The kit is standard raised panel lines kits. Decal are for two squadron VF-111 Sundowners and VF-14 Jolly Rogers. I prefer to do the VF-111 markings.

I rescribbe the panel lines my using a few methods...some of which i learned at armorama...it's such a tedious job...took more than 48 hours to rescribbe all the lines. Almost loose my patient here....

i glue the wing and cut the slat down to pose the tomcat as it's about to take off. Horizontal stabilizer is also modify.

fitting od this kit is OK..minor filler is required especially on the front fuselage join.

ok enough say..here are some photos that i managed to shoot..

here is the kit after priming with Mr Surfacer 1200.
after the primer dry, next day i painted along the panel lines with mixture of brown, black and red

then i painted the tip of the vertical stabilers with red, above the air intake with darker shade of grey and in front of the windshield. after all colors dry, i masked the color with masking tape and Parafilm. The canopy is masked with parafilm.
here is the photos before i paint the kit with the final color. All color used are Mr Color.

the exhaust and exhaust nozzle are painted with mr metal dark iron and mr metal iron. Some bare metal areas are painted with Testor Metalizer Titanium and exhaust.
here's photo of the exhaust nozzle

These are the photos that i managed to take.
As at today, the model have been painted with it's final color. All the masked have been removed. then future is spray prior to decal. I will apply the decal tonight,

well till then... comments are welcome

Given how close you are to being done I do not think there is much to say other than finish up.

As I've said before, a fitting tribute to an retiring aircraft's fitting career.

hi again fellas..
another progress photos. These are done sometime 2 week ago which until now i manage to upload some photos to share my work..

After the final color is done. This photo show the tomcat after it's being coated with future prior to decal

These photos showed the the tomcat after decals job. The red decal color doesnt seem right in the photos. They should be bright red in reality.

just finshied the AAM last night...the stipes are all decals

after decalling, i highlighted the panels lines

these are all for now..later i will finished the ejection seat and the pilot and RIO figures

hope i got enough time before the dateline

happy modelling fellas

Hi Zaidi!

Great job! You must have take ages to decal the whole thing! The model looks cool! There's not that much work left, so you should not be worried about finishing for the Air over the Sea Campaign I think! I know someone that didn't started yet!

Hi Zaidi!

Looks very good! I'm not a modern jet fan but I like the way you've build this one. The decoration of the fin is superb!

Unfortunately, the USS CARL VINSON decal on the left wing did broke up while applying I suppose. Maybe there's a way to fix this... I'm sorry for complaining about such a detail, but as your kit is perfectly done, all I see is this little thing.. :-)

I know sometimes I'm a little bit crazy!

Congratulation for your model!

That is a beautiful aircraft. You handled the decals perfectly well.

F-14s are quite dirty though. So you might want to add some grit and hydraulic oil stains to the aircraft.

Hi there Jean-Luc..

well u got me..hehe
i realised the decal was wrong just after the flat coat is cured...can do nothing about it..except to sand them and remove the stencil...

anyway thanks for the kind words... the decoration on VF-111 sundowners fin is the reason why i choose it as my painting scheme...
love the sundowners scheme

you are right Angie...
in fact i did a few subtle weathering to the jet... but didnt want to overdo it since i tend to apply my AFV weathering techniques which is not appropriate...hehe
anyway that were not shown in the photos... and i didnt want it to be to dirty.... 'he' just got his regular bath by the crew...
:-) :-) :-) :-)

and thanks for the kind words..i didnt get the decal work so perfect...see comments by jean-luc..

Great job. I can't see what difference pre-shading the panel lines made though. Probably lost in the photos. How did you then highlight the panel lines?

thanks all for the kind words

Shaun, the pre-shading were almost lost in the process. i faced promblem with my color mixing, endup with spider web and inconsistency paint flow... i think about 70-80% preshading effect were gone.
Anyway, the panel lines were higlighted using technique called sludge wash... it's a mixture of paint and liquid detergent... just apply the sludge solution onto the panel lines. When dried, wipe/buff it off with a clean towel. the remaining wash will stick 'inside' the lines.
