I'm planning on building a 1/48 F-15E for a friend, and I would like to know which is the most accurate OOTB. Any guidance will be appreciated, thanks!

I built the Revell Strike Eagle and remember everything going together very well except for the forward fuselage. I would suggest getting one of Hasegawa's 1/48th weapon sets (probably the one with the LGBs in it) as I don't remember bombs being in the kit.
Hope this helps.

Thank you, I will give it a go.

I usually only build armor kits, aircraft are a little out of my element.

Hi Tom. Yes, unfortunately (for me) he does. The local hobby shop can get me the Revell a/c kit, and they do carry some of the Hasegawa weapons sets. Are they worth the $$?

Try to find the Revell-Monogram kit in a ProModeler edition. It is the same excellent F-15E model (the best in this scale - actually the only accurate F-15E in 1/48), but with very good additional sprues with weapons added. It may be harder to find, but will be cheaper than the basic kit +Hasegawa weapons set.

The Hasegawa weapons sets are worth the money, IF you are going to be building a lot of planes. On a one time deal for a friend, you could be better served by the advice above.

I have 3 of the sets, the older guided bombs, the new guided bombs (includes a pair of JDAMs) and the iron bombs/CBUs...Can you tell I usually arm my planes for air-to-mud?

Anthony, I have the new LGB set and have not built a 48th scale jet in a while (mostly helos and armor). If you would like, I can check what I have left and send them off to you. I know of hand that the 6 GBU-12s I used as well as one set of LANTIRN pods but everything else should be there.

It is a nice kit, but it is not accurate F-15E. It is actually closer to F-15D with some extra parts to make it look like E.

Up the ante and go the 1/32 Tamiya F-15E Bunker Buster - they don't get more accurate than that!

That does seem to be an excellent kit, but that $150 price tag is a bit out of my league!
