The Hurricane Mk 1 and Spitfire Mk 1 were the main fighters of the Battle of Britian.

Hi David, for the best part of the B o B the Spitfire and Hurricane Mk. 1's were used, however, near the end the Spitfire Mk.2's came into service. I'm not certain but I think the Hurricane Mk.2's also came into service before the end of the B o B.
Hope this helps.

Phil
Wasn't sure about the Spitfire Mk II. The prototype Hurricane Mk II flew in june 1940. The first Hurricane Mk IIa were delivered to fighter command in October 1940.
