I picked up one of these the other week and looking at the spare parts on it am wondering if the nightfighter version is or was available.

Hi Ian,
Yes the G-4 nightfighter was infact the first version out, I have that, the Monogram Pro-Modeller G-2 version, but still to build and the Revell G-2 which I have built and written an article on which you can find HERE
I'm not sure if the G-4 is still available though.

Yes, as Mal said, the Bf 110G-4 was the first version available. I built this one a while ago, using Verlinden's detail set.
As you can see, there are differences in the engine nacelles (intakes) and cannons. I wish the G-4 would be re-released. I have more decals, and a couple more would be nice !

Here are some pics of my G-4: http://s96920072.onlinehome.us/Gal4/3101-3200/Gal3190_Bf-110_Lachance/gal3190.htm

Yes, the 110 G-4 was available a few years back, released first by Monogram-Pro Modeler in the US, and then I do believe Revell-Germany released their own copy. The G-2 version then came later using mostly the same molds.

I too really wish it was re-released, as I sold my unbuilt kit a while ago when contemplating getting out of aircraft modeling. Stupid, stupid, stupid, as the aircraft bug has bitten again. Oh well, no use crying over spilt milk, as they say. I'm sure the night fighter will be re-released some day by someone. And of course there is always Ebay to lurk around...

Thanks to all who replied and for the links as well.

I was contemplating doing some conversion work but maybe I'll make it as intended (though the variant that had those hoofing great MG151s sticking out of the nose appeals...)

Thanks again.
