G'day Folk's,
This 48 Hasegawa Typhoon Ib kit is being made into a 198 Sqn RAF bird, this Squadron was part of the 2nd Tactical Air Force, [odly enough this Squadron in it's early days flew fighter cover for the Mosquito's on the Amiens Prison raid].
I'm intending to use the Monogram Classic Hawker Typhoon TP-F / RB-222, decals on this bird and as the profile references show the AEAF bands are diferent to the Hasegawa kit supplied decal bands.
The yellow ID wing leading edge band has first been painted in white, then in yellow, before being masked off for the cammo, the cammo colours are from the Xtra Colour range of RAF enamels, the yellow is Humbrol, the spinner cone was also painted white before the yellow was applied, while prop is Tamiya TS-6.
The AEAF bands are seperate decals applied individualy, the white is the BMF brand of white decal film and the black are cut down from the kit supplied decals.
The profile reference I am using for my subject.
The ID band on the leading edge in a little detail.
Some of the AEAF band decals need trimming.

Hi Robert!
The model looks good so far! Did you paint the camo freehand? It's very well done!
The black decals on the underside need some touch ups but I'm sure you already did!
I'm looking forward to see the markings and roundels on this beast!

Nice work.
Am I right in thinking you are using decals for the Black stripes, certainly looks good.

Rob,
what can you say about the fit of this kit? any problem areas?
I'm thinking of buying the same kit as an offering to the Stash Gods...

As an offering to the stash gods, no complaints.
But if you decide to build it, (did he say build ?? ), the inserts in the fuselage are the tricky part as well as the front wing/fuselage connection.
I thought Mal did a build-up a while ago, you should be able to find it in the aircfraft section.
