I have finished (almost, actually) a model of this great looking interceptor. i've always wanted to own this ww2 aircraft! this was strictly 100% OOB. Used Kit decals and tamiya/gunze acrylics.
here are the pics. hope to receive comments so that i can further improve on my skills.
thanks for browsing!

Hi Erwin!
Your Raiden looks good! I build one some years ago but it was not as good as yours! It's now a testbench for my paintbruch!
It's a pretty unusual weathering technique you used! Can you tell us more about it?
Jean-Luc
PS My father's name is... Erwin too! Did you knew it is German!

TedMamere,
thanks!
Weathering....
after assembly and making sure that all seams are properly filled, I applied a silver primer... i used Gunze Mr Color Super Stainless (superb paint btw!) and then applied the black pre-shading. after the pre-shade has dried, I applied the surface paint... and then clear coated for decal application. seal the decal again with another clear coat. now the fun part, i used a used 1200 grit sandpaper to gradually sand the upper coat to reveal the silver primer or the black pre-shade... i also sanded the decals...
:D
thanks!

Excellant Raiden Erwin. I like the "sanding back" technique, I'm about to try this on an N1K1 Rex float plane.

mal,
thanks! i only read about that technique from the japanese ww2 aircraft build reviews... you can try many different weathering techniques if your modelling japanese ww2 aircrafts.
