An interesting selection for number 195 in the Squadron/Signal in action series. By Al Adcock, US Liaison Aircraft in action will fill a void in your aircraft reference library.

Nice one Mal

Liaison aircraft may not be the most glamorous subjects in the world, but their contribution in warfare is undeniable. A fine review pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of the title from a modeller's viewpoint.

All the best

Hi Mal!

Good to see something about liaison planes! As Rowan said, they are very important too. Nice informative review.

You asked yourself if kits of the L-4 were available. I know at least one: Smer's 1/48 L-4 Cub (see below an OOB build). I'm afraid the kit isn't much detailed and will require a LOT of work to bring it up to your standards!

The kit is listed as 1/48 but I'm not sure about that... I guess it was made with an old Heller mold of the 60' and could be 1/50 scale...

Hi there

A couple of other Allied liason aircraft are available in 1/48 scale.

Hobbycraft do a neat little Cub:

The fuselage is moulded clear to avoid separate side windows, but the interior is very basic.

Sword do an Auster:

This has a better interior, but would take some modification work, with different glazing, plus a new engine and cowling, to get it approaching US standards.

All the best

Rowan

Thanks for the heads up on the available kits, I'll look into them.
