hello !
I'd like to build a photo recon spitfire. does anyone know of a model, in 1/72 nd ?
I've seen drawings of PR spits painted in pink, instead of the traditional PR blue. That's the planes I'm interested in. do you know anything about them ?

Never heard of 'em before you brought it up, but I did a quick search and here's what I found:
Stof's Spitfire Page
Photo recon aircraft paint schemes
Interesting site about captured spitfires (this one has lots of pictures, it's a slow loader)
Here's a buildup of a 1:48 photo recon Spitfire
Another Spitfire info page
Hope that helps you some. If you need more info, let me know and I'll see what I can find.
After that link hunting, I have a strage urge to build a Spitfire.... I... must.... resist! #:-)

Thanks for the links, I'll check them out !
Don't resist to the spitfire's call ! it's one of the most beautiful planes, and you still need to see it in overall pink !

So now... who knows how i can model a spitfire PR Mk III ?
Is there a model somewhere ?
Do I need to modify another model ?

A quick search on Squadron turned up no photo recon Spitfires. (as near as I can see)
I'd say your best bet would be to get a model of the closest relative to the recon planes. (i.e. the version the recon planes were based on) and modify the kit from there.
I'll be looking forward to seein the pink spitfire!

Hi PenPen,
Try looking at http://ww.rollmodels.com or at http://www.modelersvault.com
They seem to be pretty reasonable on their prices and a huge inventory. If you need any other info, PM modelcitizen62. He done up the article on weathering a Spitfire. HTH

Hi Penpen
There is/was a conversion kit to make a pr1g in pink around because i made one.at the moment i can't find out who made it but when i do i'll let you know.
MPM do a kit for the pr mk xi and either themselves or SMER did a kit of the pr mk XIX.this kit comes with an etched brass accessory fret (cockpit and wheelwells).
As for paint a company called Xtracolor do both pru pink and blue.Aires do a vacform canopy for a pr1a. this is all in 1:72 scale. I'm just perusing the Hannants catalogue and see that CZECHMASTER have a kit (resin) on the way for the spitfire speed version/pr3 recconnaisance aircraft.
Hth
Regards
Peter
