This is a tip I got from Rowan (Merlin) and it works very well. Support your model by it's wing trailing edge in a box. The way I do this is to get some 1" thick polystyrene wider than the model is long. Cut the polystyrene to fit down two sides of the box. Rest the model by it's wing trailing edge on the styrene and mark the location with a pencil, mark either side of the wing. Cut slots where these marks are then insert the wing. You just have to be carful of any stcky out bits. I'll try and take some pics tomorrow. I get several models in a box. Some models can't be moved this way (Ju87, Corsair with wings folded)), then you just get creative.

isnt that typical! yesterday i was working at a barn conversion and cos every thing has arived new there is masses of polystyrene there, but they move in today so it might have gone when i get back on monday

Sorry I've been a bit busy today, picking up my car. I knew I had to take some pics, but I'd forgotten of what Doh!! I'm at Southwell show tomorrow I'll try and remember when I get back. If I don't post pics send me a PM to remind me.
