Hi Guys,
I'm currently building Hasegawas Typhoon and adding Eduards PE set to it. I'm about to start painting but can't seem to find any reference for the above. The hasegawa kit says that the wheel well and covers are flat aluminium as opposed to the green chromate of the cockpit interior. Would it be safe to assume this would also apply to the interior sections of the flaps (exposed when the landing flaps are down)??
Thanks for any help or reference you may be able to provide.

I just had alook on the web but couldn`t find any colour photo`s of Typhoons with their flaps down. But the Hawker Tempest Mk2 at the RAF Museum at Hendon has its flaps deployed and they are painted interior green.I would think that as both aircraft were built by Hawker that we could safely assume that the Typhoons would be painted the same. The photo is on the museum web site.
Hope this helps

It does Dennis, Thanks very much. I personally find it a little wierd that the landing gear wells and panels aren't also painted green. At least the green will show off the great flaps.

I would think that the interior of the landing flaps would be interior green.
I'm not sure why the wheel wells are aluminium (I think this is painted rather than natural metal) but I believe that Hawker aircraft did indeed have aluminium panted gear parts and wells. I have been unable to confirm this as it also probable that when aircraft were repainted that the wells might be painted the undersurface colour or even interior green. The colours of the Typhoon (medium sea grey, ocean grey and dark green) remained in service to the end of the war, so there would be no need to do a re-paint. I would, therefor assume that the wheel wells would remain the factory colour, aluminium.

Hi Matt
I Have been looking again at various photo`s and the odd colour photo`s I have found seem to show the undercariage doors to be a pale grey but this could be painted silver .My local ATC Sqdn had a Vampire T11some years ago which was painted silver and this colour was decidedly grey in tone.On some of the photo`s the tonal difference between the doors and the legs is quite marked silver against grey?.But on others not so much.If I find anything else I will keep you posted.
