I recently saw a 1/48 Hobbycraft P-40F in my LHS. I was wondering if this kit was their original tooling or a rebox of either the AMT or AMtech P-40F kits. Any info would be great as the kit is priced quite reasonably and I may just pick one up.
TIA,

Hi Chris
The Hobbycraft kit is a re-box of AMT's original P-40F tooling, but a "partial rebox" of the AMtech release - because you don't get the resin nose to correct the profile.
The new nose really does make a difference - it transforms the whole "front-end" - but, if you don't fancy the extra hacking to fit it, then Hobbycraft's kit is a good-value alternative.
I hope this helps

Hi Rowan,
Thanks for your answer. I kind of figured as much. Since I already have a couple of the AMT P-40F's, I think I'll hold off a bit before picking up the Hobbycraft one. I have a good feeling that they'll be sticking around my LHS for quite awhile.
