A few pics of my Revell He 162A-2 in progress, the engine is pretty much done i added a few hoses, wires and a few other bits and pieces to give it some detail i think it looks convincing even if its not accurate. I have built other plane kits but this is my first in about 10 years, any and all comments welcome.

Hi rv1963!
Nice engine you've made! I like the different shades of metal you used and the little goodies you added make the whole thing indeed look more realistic... now show us what goes around that beautiful piece of work!

I can see it on the side of the box " fuel and battery not included"
rv1963 that is a great looking engine, I agree with Jean on the different shades of metals used. I really like the burnt look. Please share your method

Confession: I think I like the "In Progress" photos better than the finished ones.
That's great detailing, keep it going. I would like to know how you did the shading also, looks very good.
Good Luck

Nice one rv1963!
The extra "plumbing" really brings the engine to life and looks so much more effective than the photo-etched piping you sometimes see...
Keep us posted!

Thanks guys i will try to explain how i did it. After the normal filling and sanding and assemble i airbrushed my base coat with Vallejo oily steel, next i airbrushed a very light coat of Comart Transparent black over everthing let dry, next step for the shading (this will take some time) i used Windsor and Newton Lamp Black and a small junk brush and layed in very small amounts of the oil paint in all the areas i wanted shading than i blend out the oils with a slightly larger brush. After all the oils are dry i go back to my airbrush and mix Comart transparent black and Testors leather to get a nice dark brown burnt looking color this was applied to large exhaust cone more heavily to the rear than the front. i also used Testors Aluminuim on several of the parts and Neolube NO.2 on a few of the parts.
