Guys
Having watched the film of the Dam Busters and read Guy Gibsons book "Enemy Coast Ahead" I now have the urge to build a Dam Buster lancaster. I know that both Airfix and Revell do one and Hasegawa are going to release one ( I suspect it will be a good one). Can anyone please tell me which is the better kit out of the Airfix and revell ones?

Peter, I believe that Revell's Lanc is even older that the Airfix one - at least the Airfix moulds have had some clean-up recently so that's the one I'd go for - or wait for the Hasegawa kit.

I built Revell's Lanc a zillion times as a kid--the only Lanc model I ever built. Just picked one up at a show for cheap, looked in and... I knew it wouldn't be Tamiya, or even 1980s Revell, but this thing ruined my memories of my childhood builds.

I'll probably build it but be assurred all those huge rivets and lines will be sanded off.

In Airfix vs Revell, I go for Airfix.

Airfix vs Hasegawa (the DB is out), is a toss-up. Each has plus/minus ...

peter.. the revell kit is a total nightmare.. like something back from the 50s, very toy-like... seriously, avoid it and go for the hasegawa...

Hi Peter
Was looking through the aircraft forumand read your question "Airfix V Revell" Lancaster.
As you can see from the pictures below I done the Revell kit.

I've just got back into modeling after a few years.
Had fun trying to find the right locations for the lights as the're not in the kit
My old dad (BARV) scratchbuilt them for me
The ground figures are extra I found in my spares box so put them on as something different.
Had to include "Nigger" Guy Gibsons dog.
More pictures are in my gallery so please have a look.
