Anybody built this?
The canopy is a terrible fit.Almost seems to be 1/75th!
Narrower than the main fusalage, and gaps all around.
Looks like a major sanding/filling job and I was wondering how other people got round this.
A shame as the detail on this model looks amazing otherwise.
Comments and advice more than welcome

hi again nigel! i read this post earlier this morning, and had a think about this problem. the best advice i can give is to try using white glue/pva to stick the canopy on, then use the same to "build out" the ridge rather than have to sand away the fusalage. white glue will dry almost clear and is thick enough to help blend away the step and won't damage clear parts. this might be enough to lose the problem in 1/72 scale

Hi Phil.Happy New Year.
Ive found a pair of 1/72 ME109 canopies on Hannants site for £1.99 so Im going to order them and see how 1 looks.
Surely it cant be a worse fit than the one that came with the kit
All part of the learning curve and "nice" challenge, albeit a frustrating one.

Firstly Happy New Year!
Nigel, if it's the 109E, why not buy an Academy 109E3/4 kit instead. It's cheap and comes with two canopies.

go for it! i had to replace a canopy from a revell FW190 because the kit one was thick and hard to see through, and got an aerolub vacform one from hannants, a nice little item!
p.s. which version of the 109 are you building?
p.p.s HEY NIGEL! i might have a spare 109 vac form canopy, if you've not ordered from hannants yet, let me know, i'll have a look for it

Im building a 109E-7 and as it stands im looking to finish it OOB as per the suggested splinter paint scheme with a mottle.
Found a nice reference pic for the same 109 featured in the instructions.
Ive ordered a stencil from Hannants to do the mottle with.Looks like the Lancaster I have will have to wait for quite a while before I get around to building it as the wings make a great test bed for trying out techniques.
And I suppose at some point I'll have to do some work this year as well!
If I spay the main camo and then apply a coat of Klear will I be able to spray the mottle over that and remove it with thinners if I mess it up?

It certainly is.
Still got no idea how it ended up on here.
All I did was cut and paste the filename from underneath the picture of the 109
Speaking of which,Ive got some wing roots need sanding down!
