I wanted something totally different than I've ever built, so I've choosen the Special hobby Piaggio P.108 II. serie four engine bomber. The only concern, is the bland markings given. Green over black for the Italian, and captured American. This bomber served in North Africa and Russia, anybody have reference on different markings?
Specs;
Span 105ft (32m)
Length 76ft (23m)
Max Speed 267 mph at 13780ft (430km/hr @ 4200m)
Service Ceiling 27880ft (8498m)
Max Range 2484 miles (3998km)
P.S. gotta love the wing mounted MG turrets!

Hi Frank!
That's a interesting build: an Italian "Fortress"!
I'll check my refs later as I have to go to work now... but I think I saw Piaggos with "Vermicelli" camouflage.
Did you know Mussolini's son was a bomber pilot? He crashed (and died) while trying to land one of those heavies...

Hi Frank,
Take a peak at Wing's Palette, and hopefully you'll find some more interesting colour schemes.
I also found this picture at the IPMS Stockholm website, together with a rather nice article about the plane
EDIT: And here are some more schemes.
Cheers!

Thanks PolarBear, that's a great cross section of camo schemes for me to ponder over.
Any information on internal colours?

Hi Frank and Björn!
It seems I don't have to search for more... Polarbear did all the work already...
On the second profile, the name of Mussolini was a tribut to his dead son, not a glorification of the "Duce".

I'm doing a little research for my Caproni 313, and as I understand it, the interior colour of the Italian bombers was either "verde anticorrosione" (which should be close to RAF Interior green) or light gray.
Cheers!

Who needs reference, when I have the two of you around! Between Jean-Luc and you, I may never open another book again :-)
The bottle of AeroMaster acrylic 'Italy Int Green Anticorrosivo' seems to have slightly more white in it than the yellow tinge of the Polly Scale 'Br. Int. Gray Green' I use for my British Interiors.

I have been informed that my italian heavy does not meet the criteria for the bomber campaign, (closed bomb bay, no external load) and that I must choose a different subject. ..... so say good bye to the Piaggio, cause it will undoubtedly rest for eternity in modelling purgatory,.............. collecting dust. .................... never to see the light again

Hi Frank!
That's too bad!
So if the Piaggo is not a bomber, what it is then? A fighter?

Not a bomber?! I don't get it...
If you need an open bomb bay, then open it up! (That's what I'm planning to do with my Caproni). It's such a good subject, and it would be - in my view - perfect for the campaign.
Cheers!

The concern I have is the time constraints, I'm enrolled in 6 other campaigns, and I'm afraid of how much time this oppening of the bomb bays will take, I'll consider it.

I think there might be some confusion over the "rules" of the Bombs Away campaign. I was under the impression that you can open the bomb bay if you wished, not a must. I don't plan on opening the bomb bay on either of my 2 entries. It would be a real shame not to see this beast built, just for the want of an open bomb bay

Hi all is ther a way to show your plane in a historical setting? I know bomb bay door werent allways opened. What im asking is can you make it where others not familiar with your subject can tell what type of plane you have built. I hate seeing a B-17 fortress and hearing some idiot say , " how many passangers did it hold " My anwser it held 8 and they had explosive tempers :-) :-) :-)
