Whilst surfing through the Hannants website I came across a set of decals depicting allied aircraft in Luftwaffe colours. In particular was a Mosquito B IV (T9 XB) in handsome colours. Is this correct? Did the germans capture and put to good use any allied mossies? If they did, then I have my entry for the Bombs Away Campaign.... I got first dibbs on it!! Hands Off

Did this actually happen? And why?

Hi Shaun
Yes - the Germans did capture a Mosquito and included it in Zirkus Rosarius but, according to my references, it wasn't made airworthy again. There's more information about the Mossie (and many other exciting potential modelling subjects) in On Special Missions.
All the best

Hi Shaun,
Of course you'll have first dibs on your idea! You should know, however, that a whole campaign on captured vehicles has been proposed.
Cheers!

Hi again
The book's photos of T9+XB actually show it rather the worse for wear; minus it's props and spinners, landing gear doors and showing signs of damage to the starbord carburettor intake. The authors' conclusion is that it had belly landed before being put on display among other captured aircraft.

Hi guys, thanks for all that. Any idea of the true colour for the a/c? Do you think the image on the picture is an accurate depiction? As for the captured equipment build, I'm going to build the Matilda II in german colours.

Hi again
I think I've seen it quoted as having RLM 70 topsides - it certainly had RLM 04 undersides and tail.

Not knowledgible about it in depth but I do know for a fact that the Germans did capture Allied aircraft and use it under thier markings.
