Wow! Not only has Steve Budd (Ogri) written an absolutely superb Full-Build Review of Hasegawa''s 1/32 scale kit, but his resulting model must surely be a contender for MoM! Enjoy!

Excellent article and build Steve. I just love those Jap planes. Any chance of some close-up shots of the cockpit ?
Strange how i actually looked at this kit this morning in Modelzone, but didn't buy it (as i have enough to do already), if this review was posted before i went i would definitely have a new plane by now, not sure if its a good or bad thing though :-) .

Hi Andy

That explains it! Poor Steve's review has been delayed by one glitch after another... now I know why - the gremlins were protecting your wallet! :-)

All the best

Thanks Rowan - I'm embarrassed now!
I very much appreciate your kind comments.
I wasn't aware of the MoM contest (must get out more...).
How does one play?

Best regards

Steve

Hi Steve

Just check out the sticky thread at the top of the Aircraft forum - Mal gives instructions on how to enter MoM.

Hi Andy:

Thanks for the feedback - much appreciated.
I regret I was too lazy to cover off shots of the pit before -closing up' - I wish I had now but that's my fault.
It was an enjoyable stage, being large enough to more easily indulge what's becoming a fave paint MO - spray base coat of Tamiya metallic grey / spray very thin top colour (40% paint, 60% thinner) at low pressure in patches up to full tone overage in these areas / spray even thinner paint over remaining visible metallic grey, shading tone transition from full tone to pre-shade shadowing as evenly as I can muster / spray dirty thinners mix at 10 psi (Tamiya red brown & nato black) in various places in lieu of a wash / dry brush high wear areas lightly with xtracolour oily steel / spray a couple of coats of varnish to protect / apply cold cider, Newcastle Brown, Southern Comfort (as appropriate) to mouth of modeller by way of reward for all the above / fall asleep (snoring loudly).

Best regards

Steve
