What scale do you work in?Posted: Friday, February 03, 2006 - 07:12 PM UTC

When i was young and nimble i worked on 1/72 scale, now I'm older, my eyes are not as good and my fingers are chubbier, its 1/48. Give it 10 years or so when my eyes are knackered, I'll be building 1/32 and by the time i retire it will probably be 1/1 scale :-).

Hi all,
I mostly do 1/35th scale figures and armor.
I want to try Skybow's 1/48th when I see it, I will avoid Tamiya.
And I like the looks of some of the newer 1/72 stuff from Trumpeter, their Famo looks like a good build.
I do a few 1/16th figures now and then.

Hmmm... so far I've built 1/48 and 1/72 crafts. I have here the Airfix 1/24 Harrier but I'm afraid I might just ruin the craft. Off to save up for 1/32 jets from Trumpeter

1/48 scale.
Can't see well enough to do anything smaller and can't afford to do anything bigger.

I don't build Aircraft, but if I did the new range of 1/35 helicopters would be my choice - space however, would become the issue.
1/35th Armour WWII does it for me with figure support.

I build in 1/48, but if the aircraft is a big one I do it in 1/72.

Airplanes mostly 1/72, with a few 48's and a couple of 32's waiting patiently for me.
Ships Mostly 1/700 but depends on subject.
Armor so far all are 1/35, but that 1/72 is starting to look like familiar teritory. :-)

Hi everyone
It's great to hear about your broader range of interests - but please remember to restrict your actual voting to Aircraft modelling.
All the best

Hi all.
1/72 Aircraft is my choice.Mainly for space reasons but I really fancy a go at something in 1/48 for the extra detail.

Hi
Being one of the older members... I didn't say wiser..
when I started doing models there was only 1/72nd available so mainly through habit I've stuck with this scale.
Plus you can get a lot more models in a given storage area if room is tight.
But I am, as mentioned many times previously, tempted to have a go at a 1/48th but as yet have not succumbed.
But watch this space.
Cheers
Peter

Hi there
In starting this, I never declared my area of interest - although I'm sure many of you already know it. 1/48 scale primarily, but I have got quite a few 1/32 scale kits on the shelf. Lack of space is the thing that keeps me from building them - but I hope to put that right one day... 'Till then, 1/48 scale seems the best compromise for me between size and detail.

1/48 for anything flying.
1/35 for armour.
Never wanted to build an 1/32 ^plane because i found it ridicoulous that these were not in 1/35 so that i could combine armour with planes.
If the current trend coninues that armour becomes available in 1/48 then this will probably become my only prefered scale.

I like to build 1/35 /32 scale Aircraft kits, I find that I can add and scratchbuild more detail to them. I also built many in1/48th, but if I can find it in a larger scale I'm going for it.

I love 1/48 A-C. It's just the right size for details and just big enough to see. I have noticed a large move to 32 scale a-c...could it be we need bigger things to see with out bifocals?
For tanks it's 35, and for ships it's 700.
I do dabble in 72 things every once in a great while after gettint permossion from SWMBO.

I'm sticking with 72nd and 48th for the aircraft. Anything bigger just takes too much space..... which is kind of a bad argument, because my 72nd BV -222 is larger than most 24th scale planes!!!

Without actually counting what's on my shelves, 85% of mine is 1/48, 10% 1/72, 3 % 1/32 and the rest all other.
WWII makes up 85%, 10% WWI, and 5% post-war.
ETO vs MTO vs PTO? Hmmmm, probably 40-60 for the Pacific.

I'm like Nigel. 1/72 mostly for space (and assortment) with occasional forays into 1/48 for more detail.

I'm pretty much of an amateur so I content myself with 1:72 but I love building 1:32 and 1:48. 1:48 is my favorite scale though....

1/48 is my preferred. however i am really beginning to eye the 1/32 kits. the detail is incredible. occasionally 1/72 but mostly for bombers.
i would love to find some 1/24 bombers. b-17 comes to mind.
