All the recent discussion about rigging WW 1 models must have tipped me over the edge. I build 1/48 WW II aircraft models, or so I thought. at the Milton Keynes show on Sunday I finally picked up Accurate Miniatures Vindicator, but it is my other 2 purchases that have me worried. The first is maybe not so much of a surprise or indeed a problem, Hasegawa's 1/32 Junkers Ju 87G The second is cause for real concerne, Eduards 1/48 Sopwith 2F.1 Camel...........................................Help what is happening?

I reckon Phil must have put some magic rigging potion in your flask Mal!
I only stood next to him and I bought the Airfix Tiger Moth, and that was before I saw his "highly commended" TM in the competition.
I also bought the Tamia Thunderbolt which looks like a beauty!
Break out the tiny drills, invisible thread and locking tweezers guys!!

Hi Mal,
This is but I'm in the process of building the Accurate Miniatures Vindicator myself. I'm doing it for the Flatop campaign. Also picked up the Yellow Wings decal set for it. I have the review in FSM that was done a few months ago but I'm afraid this one is a little out of my league.
Will you be building yours anytime soon?
Hermon

To be said through a breather mask You don't know the power of the dark side... Our choices determine our destiny...you have chosen well...ecxept for that JU87G thingy. By the way is that an aircraft ?

Mal,
Why leave WWII?!
There were plenty of cool biplanes used! Personally, I'm planning to build the Fiat CR.42 (as a Swedish J 11, of course), as well as the Golster Gladiator (once the Pavla 1/72 kit arrives) and the Hawker Hart - the latter two would be eligable for the Finnish campaign, since both where flown by Swedish volonteer pilots on the Finnish side.
You might want to reconsider your scale though, since 1/72 is just right!
Cheers

having seen the box art mal, i'm sure your camel will turn out to be a real nice build. one little tip, when you do the rigging it helps to do it over a piece of white paper or card
i can also see me getting one of those pavla gladiators (or two!)

I also was motivated by the discussion about rigging and bought the Hobbycraft - Nieuport 17 in 1/32.
Don´t know when I´ll find time to build it because I have too many projects for these year and the next, and next, and... I believe I´m not the only one with this compulsive desire to buy kits even if you know you don´t have enough time and your stash is bigger every month.
Well, I´ll try to do it after the Spit and the Moosie that I´m working on.

Never building one of those two wing things, all that rigging would drive me round the bend :-) :-) .
Andy (++)
P.S Phil please do a feature on your rigging, just incase i have a moment of madness and actually buy something not made of metal

i'm going to sort something out in the way of an article about my approach to rigging, which means i'll have to build one of my WW1 kits in my stash.

Hermon,
I'd like to build it soon, but I have plenty to be getting on with. I had planned on building a Corsair as well, if I managed to finish my Firefly, with time to spare, for the "Flat Tops" campaign but I was thinking of doing the Vindicator instead. I will build it if I finish the Firefly, but don't hold your breath as I inveriably take an age to finish a project. Anyway Herman you are probably being to harsh on yourself about the Vindicator be out of your league, the AM instruction are pretty good and if you read through them a few times, before comencing the model, I bet you won't have a problem. The only real problem is probably sorting out the sink marks on the rear fuselage sides, but that just needs a bit of care.
Phil
Thanks for the tip, I'll remember that
PolarBare,
I'm not planning on leaving WWII, I just worried about this turn of events, I didn't even have to think about buying the Camel. I just know that I will have to build an S.E.5 and other British WW1 types now but where will that lead? You've seen Stephen's WW1 models (if not look 'em up, your in for a treat) It may become a 5 aday habit
Do I need help?

Don't we all need a little help?
What would you think if I painted out of tune
Would you stand up and walk out on me
Lend me your ears and I'll lasso the moon
And I'll try not o sing out of key
Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm, I get spry with a little help from my friends
Mm, gonna try with a little help from my friends
What do I do when my love is away
I build my 48 scale models all alone!
How do I feel by the end of the day?
Are you sad because you're on your own
No, I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm, I get spry with a little help from my friends
Mm, gonna try with a little help from my friends
Do you neeeeeed a Camel
I need somebody to see
Could it beeeeee a Camel
I want somebody to see
Would you believe in love of a Camel
Yes, I'm certain that it happens when I open the box
What do you see when you turn on the Dremel
I can't tell you but I know I'm shocked
Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm, I get high with a little help from my friends
Mm, gonna try with a little help from my friends
Do you neeeeeed a Camel
I just need someone to see
Could it beeeeee a Camel
I want somebody to see
Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm, I get spry with a little help from my friends
Mm, gonna try with a little help from my friends
Yes I get by with a little help from my friends
With a little help from my frieeeeeeeeeeeeends!!!!!!!

Mal; If your gonna do it you may as well hear this little ditty in it original form...Hit it gang!!!
When I get older losing my hair,
several years from now!
Will you still be sending me a posted thread
Birthday greetings, or modeling dread...
If I´d been up till quarter to three
building one Fokker mooooore,
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I´m sixty-four?
Yooooou´ll beeeee ooooolder toooo ooooo ooooo oooooo ,
Aaaaand iiiif you saaaay the word,
I - could - build - for - you.
I could be handy, mending a fuselage
When your spars are gone.
You can paint a Camel by the fireplace
Sunday morning be an Armorama Ace,
Doing the wings, rigging the struts,
Who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I´m sixty-four?
Every summer we can rent a cottage,
In Pougkeepsie New York, if it´s not too dear
We shall scrimp and saaaa aaaave
With a buil -ding board on your knee
drilling, cut and aze.
Send me a postcard, drop me a line
stating points of view.
Indicate precisely what you mean to build
Yours sincerely, waiting for a thrill
Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I´m sixty-four ? boom - boom....
