It's been a while since I did an aircraft so I decided to do one of my kits that's been gathering dust. This is an Academy 1/48 MH-6 kit which I build to be an MD 500 civilian helo of the Garden State Turnpike & Parkway Authority, although as far as I know the agency doesn't operate any aircraft. Decals were homemade. Comments are welcome.

Looks great Alex, love the colors. Your decal work is clean and sharp. My only suggestion is doing a med. gray pin wash to bring out the panel lines some. The Helo pad also looks good.

A very attractive color scheme you've chosen! It's a pity it doesn't exist really.

I love the MD 500 as it looks so business like and a little like the sports car of the Helicopter world. Seeing the job that you have done on this one reminds me of the Dragon Police one that I have in my stash as a to do kit.

Very nice indeed especially the paint and decals.

Actually, living in NJ, I can tell you first hand the State Troopers DO have at least one helicopter. On the southern part of the Garden State Parkway, there is a sign that says "Speed enforced by helicopter". Me and a friend of mine thought is was a bunch of bull until we were drag racing our cycles on the parkway early one morning. We got chased by one trooper and lost him pretty easily. However, my buddy got 2 tickets in the mail for going 186MPH, and a ticket for reckless driving along with a photo of his bike and liscense plate that were taken from the air. He lost his liscense, got community service, and can attest that they DO have a helicopter LOL (thank god I was ahead of him and they didnt get me!) Come to think of it, I am going to send him a link to this page as a joke LMAO :-)

Although Alex's 500 may be fictious. The McDonald Douglus 500 is very much a part of todays Police,Border Patrol, Highway Patrol, Sheriff's Dept.
The Maryland (St George County) has a Hughes NOTAR they use for Highway survailence. And I have seen Miami/Dades 500 as well, and of course there is the infamous CHP 500E's & 620's

As RotorHead stated the 500 is used in many Police departments. Hey in Buffalo, NY they use two, one a Hughes 500 Turbine Helicopter. Air 2 was totally refurbished and immediately put into service with the latest high tech search and rescue equipment installed. The aircraft was given to the Sheriff's Office through the United States Military 1208 surplus equipment program.

I like it a lot
Something different from the norm which makes it stand out even more.
Nice clean build, and I agree with a wash to bring out the detail.
Helo pad is a nice touch

A NOTAR kit would be cool. Is there any NOTAR kit available in any scale?
