Hey there SuperSniper....

I picked one of these up through Ebay for about $5, including shipping....it was the Monogram kit in 1/48th scale....not sure what scale or make of model you are looking for....but check out Ebay...as I think the Monogram kit at least is OOP.

I know there's a 1/72 Airfix one, 'cos I've got one waiting to be built!

I've built the Academy 1/72 example and found it to be very good. I did hear some rumblings that it had some inaccuracies, but what the heck, It looks like a Typhoon to me. The Airfix kit is pretty old now, so is a little lacking detail-wise. In 1/48 you have a choice of the earlier Monogram kit or the newer Hasegawa examples. IIRC there was also one from Revell in 1/32, though it could be harder to find.

Here's my Academy example

If I'm not mistaken, I think Eduard also does a typhoon in 1/48th !
It should be sold in two different "packages" :
- one basic
- one "expert" with more PE and such...

Actually penpen, the kits you're thinking about are the later Tempest V's

I second Geoff's opinion...it's a great little kit!

Supersniper, just got home and noticed that my Airfix 1/72 Typhoon which was bought for the princely sum of 20p at a car boot sale, is in fact a Tempest V - I can never tell the difference between those two! It's in my waiting to be done collection, but if you are really stuck I will gladly send it to you. I think I can stand the 20p loss.
The box art has the date 1989 on it and so the kit is not really up to today's standards, also there is a very small flaw in the main rear section canopy piece, which might pass for flak damage.
It would take a bit of work to produce something good with it, thinning trailing edges etc, but it might do if you are modelling a belly-landed aircraft in your diorama, but then of course you'd have to scratch-build a decent cockpit (probably not worth the hassle), the decals are for Wing Commander Evan Dall Mackie (18 confirmed kills), squadron code is the personalised EDM, serial number is SN288.

Thanks alot holocaust, i think i might check into this monogram one, if it is an ok model ill get it. The dio im thing of doing is one in either north africa with a p-40 kittyhawk between a wish bone sand dune with a camo net over it, thats one idea. The other one which i would use the hawker typhoon will be of an airstrip in europe near the ocean like in normandy or somewhere in that vecinity, hence the hawker typhoon idea. but i am always open for suggestions. plus this will be my first dio. so suggestions are aprreciated. and holocaust i might take you up on that. im sure we could come to a deal. thanks kencealot for the site I think i found a model. the Hasewega Hawker Typhoon Mk. I(b) super detail.
thanks all

The Old Revell/monagram classic Typhoon isn' t a bad kit, although i am sure the newer Hasegawa would have more detail. You can't beat the price on the Revell though, get 3 for the price of 1 Hasegawa. I love the typhoon and would build a fleet of them if I could get them.
